Long story short: it's a good game, but nothing great. So if you're done with Ghosts of Tsushima and don't want to go for a second playthrough yet you could scratch that itch with AC Shadows.
Just get ready to rage about the self-driving parcour car that is Naoe and play roulette with the terrible controls: Will I jump to the next roof? Or simply in front of the ashigaru underneath me? Or will I somersault out of the whole fort I was going to infiltrate? Who knows?! Certainly not you, I can tell you that much. Want another example for the worst controls in 2025? You can't break crouching by sprinting. You have to manually stand up, before you could start sprinting. Guess that's quite immersive since I'm going to be 40 soon and can't do either, as well, but that's why I want my game escapism! Thanks for that uncalled reminder on the limitations of my body, Ubisoft.
Damn.. now I want to play Ghosts of Tsushima again.

No PSN Account needed, no Kernel Anti Cheat or Chinese Spyware implemented.

haven't got past the Character Creation screen and it's already a better release than most of the other games atm.

EDIT: actually got to play the game for some time now, it's as good as the title menu implied. ^^

I really liked the game in the first few hours but at some point it is easier and better for your overall process to let your employees handle all the tavern business. This is a bit... dissapointing since that is maybe the one thing that made this game special and different to other similar games. Your daily grind becomes farming and buying the same ressources and keeping the production going, while the NPCs handle your tavern. Maybe I need to take some time off and not pressure myself into resupplying the tavern EVERY day and help out at the place I rebuild and enjoy mopping up customers again. Maybe the problem is my compulsion to effectively advance. Still sometimes I wish I could hire people to farm my ressources so I could run the tavern instead...

Never had more fun exploring

It's a great game

but Sony's Playstation Network requirement and account creation nearly drove me insane and I'm in one of the countries where it's supposed to work without handing them all your information on a silver platter.
At least now I know where Kratos got all his Spartan Rage from...

An accomplished mixture of challenging combat mechanics, entertaining gameplay loops and interesting characters all mixed together in an incredible and fitting art style.
The only thing that could theoretically rip you out of this fantastically immersive adventure is Sony's PSN account linking, but gladly it is not required for single player.

fun game, which hopefully never needs a linked PSN account.

The first Outcast was really a wonderful experience, so naturally I hoped this iteration would be a worthy successor...

and it is.
