They removed the face of the franchise completely outside 1 starting cut scene and text messages on a phone. Why do they take 2 steps backwards every year...

Brings back memories of an older time.
Great solo, great with friends. This should be part of any gamers collection.

Much more approachable than the dark souls, still gets your blood pumping during fights, and you get that amazing feeling when you finally beat the boss/monster who has been besting you time and time again.

Two options here.

1. They fix the game, and add content.
In that case buy it later, when its fixed and 1/3 the price,
2. They don't fix it and the game is left in the dust like EA's Anthem/MassEffect4/ETC/NBA Live.
In that case don't buy it.

Either way don't buy it today. Review as of February 2022

Do you recommend the game was a solid "Yes" a few years ago, and over the several years has became a disappointed "No".

If you can get this for $7 on a steam sale that's fine, but do not expect a lot from the game. We are in 10 years beta with 2 steps forward 3 back with most patches. FunPimps (The developers) are extremely rude to the community; unwilling to see any criticism as something that could be constructive and helpful to them.

Before you buy the game I would recommend you go to the discussion page and see the Chaos of development and the absolute maximum level of frustration that the player base is experiencing.

Not the largest leap forward comparing DL 1 and DL 2, but Dying light 1 sits at a 95% approval rating. This is more of the the same, larger map, more side missions, more weapons, and overall just much more content.
Techland is also known to keep giving its games love for long after release.

If you like Dying Light 1, you will love Dying Light 2.

I've left 3 reviews on this game, First a recommend, then a not recommend; but I'm back to recommending this game.

It's not an amazing game, has some wonky things, voice acting is pretty rough. BUT, that being said, you get a few friends and your going to have a good time with this title.

Graphics are absolutely amazing (frostbite engine makes anything shiny look good, and star wars is a shiny universe, perfect combination!!)
They got rid of the pay to unlock, so thats nice.

Wish they were still doing updates. Well worth $20 or the sale of $9.99 I got it for.
