This is slightly more genre consistent compared to the first game. Also a bit less straining to play. The levels are a bit more simplified, and the encounters scale properly. We have 2 new enemy types which can be very annoying to deal with until you get the shadow claw. It was fun to actually play as a german soldier in WW1 compared to always playing as the opposing front. It plays out as a solid prequel to the first game.

The sad part is, you can see the influence of Cod. How in multiple scenarios you must wait for your team mates to open the door for you, and fight for you. The first game didn't have this. Now all shooters have this infection. But they still managed to keep it classy.

Game needs a launcher? Immediate disapproval. Will remain so until the requirement is removed. It is redundant, cringe and chasing a trend which no longer exists for a 15 year old game.

The review itself, this game is a weird mix of woflenstien and bioshock in the outline of quake and doom. The first half of the game plays like a generic world war campaign. But later on it suddenly turns into bioshock (limited) with the use of dual weapons highly encouraged. We fight monsters, ride dragons,mechs and fight huge demons and mechs. Has to be the whackiest game. That said it is more derivative of doom & quake rather than call of duty. That alone sets the bar very high.

However this is not with issues. The game is extremely tiring to play, there are several enemies to fight. The earlier stages can be extremely hard. One of the stages, the enemies kept spawning forever. I used adrenaline to rush the enemy and even inside the room they kept spawning when I turned the camera. This fixes itself late game but each stage you kill roughly half the enemies in a full cod game.

All of my childhood games are plagued by nvidia malware, this title is no different. Given its an nvidia sponsored title ofcourse there are some ceveats. There is heavy stuttering when firing a weapon, the only way to fix it is to play in dx9. Given how the 2010 era nvidia games aged horribly, PT is nothing different.

One thing I realized with this game, Ubisoft was always focused on copying and lowest common denominator for mass appeal and profits. This game is proof of that. Now does it make it a bad game? Not exactly.

It takes the, lets call it re4 formula and blends it with the og re. With that you have a semi re4 clone which has the camera weave into TPS for shooting, but remains fixed for exploring. Unlike re4 enemies dont have hit reaction to limbs but destroying the head remains the meta to effectively stop them. Ammo is plentiful. The saves aren't an issue since the game automatically decides when it should save, and the timing is pretty healthy I'd say.

It simplifies some aspects of re, making it accessible to "wider" audiences while also has more language support for disabilities, unlike re4 which only had eng dub. While this isn't a bad thing it also cannot compete against a focused product.

So why the thumbs up? Well if you're one for nostalgia this game delivers. I would say based on audio and mechanics its still better than indies released today.

This game was honestly a surprise to me. I was convinced the horror genre has no hope and everyone dabbling in it can only make a safe and boring premise. Boy was I shocked.

Now before I go into details, I'll list out the negatives. As a video game, I have to say we have ps2 games better than this. The fatal frame trilogy clears easily (as a video game, all aspects). That's plain sad how we're unable to go beyond the ps2 library and zoomers have no idea how good we had it. The voice acting is horrid and atrocious. I know the og series had fixed camera, but recently the fans have brought tps camera to a lot of the og classic games and it is easily the best way to play it. There is a reason why RE4 revolutionized the genre.

Then if I hate it, why the thumbs up? The puzzles. I have never in my life come across puzzles this hard. Not even the ps2 or ps1 era (as per memory). I really enjoyed seeking the solution, some of them even shocked me. I also loved the story of the game. It really has that horror touch but is also brutal. When the opening scene played I knew I was in for a ride.

Anyone disappointed with how resident evil 4 demake and reddit hill 2 demake have ruined the genre forever, this title is something you should definitely try. An experience truly for the OGs.

One of the many nostalgic titles for me. The game starts off as hardcore stealth with the protagonist insisting how he must be non-lethal as he's not an assassin. Much like MGS, the enemies can wake up if knocked out. However the game in the later segments becomes an action game, where playing it as an over the shoulder shooter is marginally easier than going in silent. In Grushkov's section they just gave up and it became a janky action shooter.

It is by no means the best, but if you're tired of the BS 2024 has brought and woke, try giving this a go. This game has what I would call a soviet soul.

The escort missions were a bit annoying, but credit where due the AI had excellent path tracking, something which ubisoft fails at even today. Guess its more important to use the cpu for drm than such things. The gunplay is very janky at long range and inaccurate even at close range as they focused on stealth but the shortcomings are more visible the more you play.

I recently decided to replay the game again. As elden ring normalized the industry to chase the "rollslop open world" trend, far cry 3 set the gears in motion for ubi-design normalization. The thing which irked me most was the punk aesthetics which sort of feels like its the "modern" audience trend chaser. This sadly was one of the titles one would identify as woke before people realized what's happening to their video games.

The lore of the game is still great. But in terms of story telling and set pieces we took another step back. The og linear homefront is still a tad bit better than this, but marginally shorter. Praise where due, the graphics have definitely aged well, with many 2024 titles looking like utter garbage. Crytek really was ahead of its time.

Revisiting the game with more powerful hardware to enjoy its advanced effects did not age will. It uses the first gen DLSS which is quite awful. RTX makes the game hang several times, even after caching all shaders it still hangs. Dx11 remains the best way to play it, which my decade old PC could also do comfortably. I wonder if all RTX games will age similarly.

A game from the piss filter era of ps360 games. Man I miss that era so much. This game lets you relive that era again, short as it might be. Personally I had way more engagement and fun than 4-6hr walking simulators enjoyed by "modern" gamers.

Its the origin of warframe, with the lore being expanded on in warframe itself connecting it.

It takes a huge load of headache to activate and play this DLC. Despite what other reviews say, yes you can buy it and play it, you have to activate it on uplay. Sadly when ubisoft neutered the multiplayer, they removed some essential files to boot the DLC, downgrading the depot will make it work. It is also possible to play it "other" ways.

Now lets get to the DLC itself. Extremely disappointing in execution. This seems like a bunch of cutting floor ideas wrapped together in audio tapes which you could have discovered and discussed with Clay in the main campaign itself.

The major point for this is a reveal for AC:B's ending to get more context. IMO this precisely is why AC series started going downhill. Lets take witcher 3 for example. Not only does Geralt get to walk, B&W ends his story spectacularly with the waifu of your choice. A lot of games which started in the ps360 era ended horribly and are better left to memory today (me3 anyone?). AC is sadly one of them, and the new rollslop clones are flogging a dead horse.

I would call the interactions in this game nothing short of a tech demo, with how detailed it is. Enemies can stop you from assassinating, but if you build up momentum while running you can still assassinate them. If you have less area to land, you simply slip. You can run through stalls to break pursuers. You can throw them into stalls to kill them. Sometimes you don't jump off a ledge, because you didn't build running momentum to jump off.

This game is proof that once ubisoft had a very detailed combat mechanic. Due to journalists being horrible at video games, and zoomers not reading tutorials it was misunderstood, removed and now forgotten. Replaced with rollslop mechanics.

It took me 16 years to realize ubisoft probably put a mechanic with a higher skill ceiling than sekiro itself. If you learn to combo (press button 1 right when the sword connects again) you can instantly kill hordes of enemies. Which is quite necessary as the final stretch of the game has you fight many.

If you want to play a game actually about assassins, their culture and all this would remain the best game. Also no Uplay.
