Very cute game! Simple mechanics that are fun and interesting, and I've been really impressed with the different side characters / story quests throughout this beautiful little world!!

Only complaint is it's a bit annoying without being able to run or scroll through the map when zoomed for people with bad sense of direction like me, but that's super minor and the run thing has a "solution" later on.

The art is fantastic and the dialogue is certainly imaginative. However, I personally think it's over the top whacky which makes it lack nuance and most importantly the "gameplay" part is just a bunch of selections that have seemingly random results. Although I later discovered it was based on stats, to be the game is unfortunately quite boring.

Note I only played it on single player, and to be fair it seems reviews say it'd be more fun on multiplayer.

Definitely a charming little game! It's very simple and the art is reminiscent of early 2000s - however, for how simplistic things are, there is a very dynamic little world that does change in I'd say meaningful ways based on player decisions, and has multiple engaging storylines. Combat, levelling, and strategy mechanics are quite diversified (and unique!) but easy to learn.

CONS:
- Main gripe is the lack of instruction and explanation - general information is available, but for a lot of the details I had to look at other guides (ex. the meaning of each attribute?). To date, I'm still not sure why my Armory crafting (max level) does not even get to the low end of their estimated stats
- Game does also get a repetitive and grindy (I'm sure there's a way to speed-run to avoid),
- A few SMALL bugs (mostly visual) near the end of the game (but they don't affect gameplay).

TIPS

- Each stages' passive skill has to be unlocked before promotion, otherwise you can't get them. Ex. Level 16 Apprentice's skill, etc. Won't matter if you plan to graduate the student
- Use nicknames to sort and plan students' careers - ex "Momo KGrad! 6p4dex169")
- Easiest way to carry a team of weaklings is to have them hold (on my PC controls, letter U) at the front and use the strong character to beat the level. If they're alive, they gain exp
- Try to graduate as much at max level 10 as possible in early stages to set up farm -> greenhouse. Early access to gold & reputation is great
- Pay attention to what roles are asked for by the Royal Notice for graduation - bonus rewards! Save other classes for better times.
- Always check traveller!! Buy their materials and weapons - they tend to be better than what can be personally crafted. Having gold is useful for this.
- Build and level as many classrooms & dormitories as possible in order to have the exp % increase
- Try to get high fame as soon as possible, useful to have more lots to farm exp / other stats
- no need to overthink too much when strategizing for which students are better, as long as general direction is okay and luck value is good, it's fine. Weapons are most important
- automatically controlled party minions are best for sweeping up barrels
Personal Complaint: Meet the Masked Orc is literally impossible to me ahhhhh.

I binged it while ill with covid and I'd say it's the perfect don't-need-too-much-brain-but-still-entertaining type of game!
