Owlboy was a charming and beautiful little game that I very much enjoyed. For me, the game was a good difficulty level - it presented a decent challenge while not causing me to rage-quit. The characters are cute and had many moments throughout the game that were lighthearted and amusing, as well as dark, which made me feel a full range of emotions. I cannot compliment the artwork and music enough. This game is gorgeous, especially when one single person created all of the pixel work!

That being said, this game is not perfect. The story is interesting, but not overly so. And while the game is beautiful, a lot of the areas felt a bit empty. I was able to 100% this game in 10-12 hours. That is something to keep in mind if you are thinking about return on investment. Still, I would definitely recommend this game.

Playing this game was an absolute joy from start to finish. It made me laugh, and cry, and cry from laughing. The pixel art, especially during battles, is very well done. Also, the battle system in general is a nice change from the standard turn-based RPGs, as you must actively dodge your enemy's attacks through a sort of mini-game.
The devs did a really good job coming up with memorable characters that you are guaranteed to fall in love with. All the NPCs you come across are unique in their character design.

Some parts of the game could be improved: first off, the puzzles were mostly the same few puzzles recycled over the course of the game, and they are really nothing to write home about. I also felt the items situation could be improved - there were points were healing items were hard to come by, and backtracking became necessary.

If you enjoy the Earthbound/MOTHER series, or like silly RPGs in general, make sure to pick this up. Don't forget to pack your lunch for the feels trip.
