Damn this thing is a lot deeper than I expected.

Like runescape, but for people with jobs.
EDIT: 6000 hours in. still the same but with Exterminating now!

The game is fun for a couple of hours, but is the size of a demo, not a full game.
1 year lasts 100 days, but by day 20ish I had unlocked 75% of everything there was to do. By the end of the first year, I was bored since it was the exact same gameplay loop everyday for the last 30+ days.

Its free and a little bit of fun, so its really hard to give this a thumbs down.
Main reason for the thumbs down is it took under 15 minutes to beat the game. Zero replayability, strategy was very almost non existent. A 3 year old could probably beat this just by randomly hitting things.

Twin Sails (formerly Asmodee) primarily makes video games out of existing board games, but doesn't do anything to improve them, just automates the rules as written.
This by itself wouldn't be that bad, but they don't do a great job of that either. All their games I have played have major bugs or stability issues.
Gloomhaven is no different. The AI turns sometimes take 1 second, sometimes they take 30+ seconds just to move 1 enemy. Multiplayer is playable, but frequently has freezing and softlocking that requires a complete restart of the mission. Some skills dont work as described on the cards.
I have been playing this game weekly with friends for over a year and we have issues with the game running EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Tying this back into the first section, I have played many games by Twin Sails, and all of them are buggy and receive no bug fixes or patches even on super simple things to fix such as major typos on cards.

This review is for the first public release.
Overall, its pretty much what you would expect. You pick a style and room type and draw a shape. it fills it with random items from its list of stuff related to that room and style, but does so in a fairly intelligent way to make it look realistic.

I have no problem recommending the software in its current state, but think $45 is a bit too high for it right now. Once all the stretch goals get added, it might be worth 45, but i would still recommend waiting for a sale.

fun 4 player game with 4 classes.
Difficult combat with the majority of combats being inches from death if you arent paying attention, but survivable if you know what you are doing. Well balanced overall.

Replay value could use some work. there are a handful of mission types, on a handful of different map types. Each is dynamically generated so each is unique but nothing special once you know what to expect. A bit of a grind to unlock everything but fun to play with friends.
