I was gifted this game because my friend thought I would enjoy it – I'm usually a fan of pretty, immersive games.

And to be fair, I did get a couple of beautiful screenshots. The more I explored the world, however, the more dead it felt. As soon as you leave populated areas, all sceneries seem empty because of a lack of environmental storytelling. If you do happen to come across an NPC, they'll tell you their lifestory (unpromptedly) and send you off to do a task. None of it felt organic – what reason do they have to believe I would be available/willing? Why do they trust me, a stranger? Why can't they leave their house? Where do they disappear to at night? Why are we here, just to suffer?

From faulty collision to terrifying character models to aimless dialogue to nonsensical quests to game crashes, frame drops and characters clipping out of existence, it was, all-in-all, a disappointing experience.
The core mechanic (painting sceneries) initially seemed fun, but as it became clear that each painting used up a limited resource (inspiration) and turned out to produce (sometimes) low quality/ weirdly lit environments, I just became annoyed. Why limit the player's ability to produce art, when that is what the game is all about?

I honestly wouldn't recommend this game to anyone – unless I wanted to see them suffer like I did. (I did make my friend play it, while I watched, so we could suffer together. Their experience mirrored mine.)
One thing I did enjoy was the fake Russian accent on Tifa. Her ox is strong <3

i cant convey how much i love this game in words. its a work of art that brings me to tears every time i replay it. if youre ok with reading a bunch of text and enjoy a beautifully crafted experience, this is for you. also the soundtrack slaps
