Decided to try POE2 with no prior knowledge of the POE genre. because i was bored with D4
Let me start off by saying this game is NOT new player friendly, it does a piss poor job of explaining any and all mechanics within the game. I think i've spent as many hours researching how basic systems in the game work, as i have actually playing the game, something that could have been avoided, had they just explained how mechanics work via tool tips or something similar.

I did enjoy my first play through of the campaign. I loved the Dark Soul's feel of the bosses, and how unforgiving some of them could be. I also found the ascension trials to be very enjoyable for what they were, mostly because I wasn't just aimlessly wondering large areas in search of an exit, but instead I was being faced with short tests to my build and skills.
I was looking forward to reaching "End Game", only to find out that i'm now forced to play the ENTIRE campaign AGAIN, and then AGAIN if i want to even see what this game has to offer for "End Game" Content. I just want to experience something new, not play through the same story multiple times. What a boring snooze fest. Very bad design choice to regurgitate the same long drawn out campaign over and over, only at a higher difficulties, and call it content--especially when a vast majority of the Campaign is filled with obnoxiously MASSIVE maps, full of dead ends, that offer ZERO variation from previous run throughs. With that being said, I'm finding it really hard to stay motivated to want to continue my current play through, especially after reading that the current state of "End game" can be bricked as soon as you enter it. So i may hold off for now, until development addresses those issues--if they even do.

One major issue I had with this game was the Crafting. Crafting in this game is not crafting at all, it's playing slot machines at the casino. --which leads to everyone just relying on the 3rd party Trade website for gear. This to me is an incredibly boring way to gear your character, but its better than the alternative of playing crafting roulette-- IF you want to craft your own pieces of gear, you're in for a long rng grind, farming for pieces of materials that can make orbs, or farming the orbs themselves... just to get rolls on your gear that are useless and potentially brick it, throwing away hours of time. I have experimented with this mechanic, and I find it highly unrewarding and a total waste of time and resources. If Crafting was structured in a different way, and was less of an RNG mess, it wouldnt feel as attrocious, but as it sits its just a feelsbadman all around.
The community on the game is also extremely toxic. (not all of them, but a vast majority who are active in game chat). Global chat is always filled with giga Chads who are rude to new players, who are just asking general questions about the game they are playing. You would think long time players of POE would at least want the new influx of players to stay so this iteration of POE survives... but they seem dead set on just running people off and i really don't understand why.

Even though i enjoyed the first playthrough of the campaign, I wouldn't recommend it in its current state. Its one of those, if you're new to the POE franchise--SAVE YOUR MONEY -- and just wait until it releases for free, because It's FAR from new player friendly and unless you want to take time on the side to research the ins and outs of POE and its workings, its only going to be frustrating as you play through. I also wouldn't recommend it to people who dislike high RNG systems within games, or any Dark Soul's type game.
I know the game is in Early Access, and it's not in its finished state and i'm trying to give the devs the benifit of the doubt here. I 100% want to enjoy this game, but there are some things in it that need completely overhauled because they are just bad systems/mechanics, and it causes the game to quickly lose its appeal.

Save your money, wait for F2p.

THE DEVS HAVE ZERO VISION FOR THE GAME.

IN YOUR FACE, ABSURDLY- OVERPRICED, SKINS AND MICROTRANSACTIONS.

This is the second time i have reviewed this game, and the second time i have given it a thumbs down.
The devs have no clue what they want their game to be. And after multiple "reworks", just since live release alone, the game is still just riding off of Paragon's nostalgia.
The game felt like a MOBA when i first started playing it (Pre-F2P access), but it has turned into a 3 lane brawler.
There is absoultely no Lane phase, the map is to small, characters move to fast--causing every match to turn into a 5v5 FFA. It has devolved into something that is nowhere close to a MOBA, even though they try to pass it off as one.

The devs have gone through many total overhauls within the balancing of the game, and they have ZERO clue what they are doing. Every patch and new overhaul comes with major balancing issues, and the silliest of fixes just to bandaid them. It is obvious that they ignore the fact that the game is marketed as a MOBA, because they have yet to do anything to give it a proper moba feel. They really have no idea how to balance any aspect of the game. They are constantly adding strange gimmicks into the gameplay that they have taken from other games, yet claim the game is "its own".

They are only "developing" this game to make bank on the microtransaction shop. Their skins are AAA game priced, and in NO way are they worth what they ask, given the lack of development that goes into this game. This has been addressed multiple times in the Official Discord, and has gotten backlash from Lead Dev- Rgsace (the older threads have been purged off of the discord, pre 1.0 release to hide the outrage, and the disgusting comments from Rgsace).

I have lost all faith in this game ever becoming the "Paragon successor" that they claim it to be. ITs DOA and just feelsbadman.

I continue to come back in the hopes that they will fix it, because they used ALL paragon assets, and that Paragon nostalgia needs scratched sometimes--But My god. All it takes is about 2 games in, and reminded of why i constantly uninstall this game. Its just awful these days, and every time i come back it feels progressively worse.

Great piece of nostalgia. Recommend playing with a controller to stop cutscene stutter.

Fantastic game, and well worth the playthrough. The game is pretty straight forward and the puzzles aren't that difficult once you figure out how to do them. The awe lies in the Graphics, the immersive audio (recommend playing with headphones), and the beautiful combat animations. The Devs definitely nailed the feeling of psychosis. 10/10 would play again.
