Early Access Review
A very refreshing, immensely deep, and compelling game with a thriving, devoted and friendly community.

The tactical depth, customizability, mechanical depth, and moment to moment game-play are frankly amazing. Nebulous is hands-down one of the best, and deepest games I've ever played. If you want something that you can really sink your teeth into, Nebulous is for you.

There's also a ton of additional features planned for the future, and the developer is extremely active. Not only that, they're incredibly open about the development process. Truly this is an indie gem.

About the recent negative reviews:

The large number of recent negative reviews seem to be from people who purchased the game not for what it is, but rather for what it could be in the future. Not only that, many of the recent negative reviews are describing features that have never actually been promised, or at the very least misrepresent the features that have been promised. Conquest was never advertised as a single-player focused mode. Nebulous has always been a multiplayer focused game, and Conquest was no different. Conquest was and still is planned to be playable against the single-player AI. But calling it a single-player focused mode tells me some folks didn't read the store page, dev logs, or feature announcement.

Single player features are planned, and are still planned. Conquest as a feature is still planned, and is still planned to have a single-player option, but there's been a development setback for the feature (which happens to literally all games or software ever developed) and it's undergoing a redesign. The developer was open and honest with the community the setback, which is something lots of people say they want from developers. It's pretty a hypocritical move to demand openness, and then review bomb an indie game as soon at it encounters a set-back or delay. Very few of the recent negative reviews actually represent reality.

If you're curious about the most recent development, just check the announcements. As I said, the developer is very open and honest; and importantly, the developer is very clear. Conquest is not cancelled. Single-player is not cancelled. Nothing has been cancelled, canned, or rug pulled.

As with any early access game I recommend you only purchase it if the current game-play and features appeal to you. You should never buy a game (or anything else) for features it has planned for the future.

Thankfully, the game-play and features in their current state are amazing and I can enthusiastically recommend a purchase without hesitation.

What can I say that others have not? Great game. Worth the money if you like sims.

Very satisfying crafting mechanics which require strategy. Simple but attractive art style. I'm hooked.

Early Access Review
The worst new player experience I've ever had. Have watched youtube videos that all said to do the tutorial, which I did, and it bugged during the ship upgrade. The default control scheme for the ship is quite possibly the worst I've ever seen. Yes you can rebind, but it is not at all intuitive or straightforward. Heck even the simple process of switching out a fuel rod was beyond frustrating because all of the typical modifier keys one would use to change the orientation of a 3D object in space don't work, and the snap-to function has been useless so far. This game is great in theory, and I wanted to like it, but it needs a major quality of life update. Refunded and might re-visit once it has more polish.

Great citybuilder all around with an EXCELLENT team that really dedicate themselves to making Cities: Skylines the best game it can be. Really have nothing but good things to say about it. You have a tremendous amount of freedom and creative choices, constant addition of content and little quality-of-life improvements, user-created content, everything a sim should have.

This is one of the best Star Wars games ever made, though I would highly recommend subscribing to the restored content mod available in the steam workshop in order to fix some of the notable bugs that may prevent you from completing certain quests. The mod also adds a few scenes that were cut from the end which, IMO, make for a more satisfying finale. The roleplaying elements are great, with lots of opportunity to make your character have a distinct personality as you interact with the world. The combat is a bit slow and clunky at first but hits its stride in the middle of the game when you have more force points and abilities to work with. If you are a Star Wars fan, you should absolutely play both KOTOR games.

I really can't recommend the game.

The moment to moment gameplay gets extremely repetitive, extremely quickly. I also made the mistake of choosing the Battle Wizard as my first hero. I've looked at guides and tried to "learn" the hero but I'm fairly convinced the hero is just awful, and well WELL behind the power curve of other heroes. She dies extremely quickly. If you lose track of your orange "Overcharge" bar in the midst of all the orange fire and orange explosions that you throw, you can explode yourself, because apparently being super squishy isn't enough of a trade-off. By the time I decided to do another hero, I just couldn't bring myself to go through the leveling process for something else...because the gameplay is just so damn repetitive.

People talk about the depth of the game, but I don't see it. It's just learning the three or four different things your hero can do, light resource management, and timing. More deep than CS:GO, less deep than Overwatch.

Early Access Review
I find this game to be very enjoyable, even though it's in Early: Access. Hell the game could cease development right now and I'd feel like I got my moneys worth. The flight and combat are incredibly fluid and enjoyable. The environments are spectacular and get REALLY spectacular in the later sectors. One of the sectors is genuinely terrifying through ambience alone, which is awesome.

Graphics are great. Not cutting edge, but very sharp and just plain pleasing to the eyes. The game is also very well optimized from what I can tell. My 970 doesn't have any issues running this on maxed graphics with no noticeable frame skips or drops in framereate.

The story, while obviously a placeholder for the more ambitious story the developer has planned, is just engaging enough to keep you motivated to push on. The main character (you) can be kind of annoying but not unforgivably so. I still haven't beat sector 6 so I haven't finished the story, but I definitely want to see how it ends so I'll definitely keep playing. Beyond the story there's lots of replay value. Getting all the perks for your ships and pilot. Getting blueprints for crafting. Simply enjoying the randomly generated maps and the situations that arise from them. It's pretty cool to see Outlaws, Aliens, and Corporate Bodyguards duking it out around a Corvette that's raining hell on anything that moves. All the while you can jump into the fray and feel like a BAMF when you come out on top with just a sliver of live left and your compnents all damaged. But then you fall into a black hole so it all works out in the end I suppose.

The vast array of components really lets you come up with any playstyle you like. Cloaking, time dialation, buff/debuff, close range combat, long range combat, and on and on just make for a metric tonne of ways you can approach combat (or evasion).

I wish you could modify your starting loadout, and I wish there were more non-combat things to do, but as it is it's a damn good game. Just a lot of fun and really engaging.

Highly reccomended, the devs deserve support.

Very difficult, but incredibly immersive. I wish the plot was laid out a bit more clearly, but ti's interesting non-the-less.

You'll only run into a few instances of purely unfair gameplay, where survival is more luck than skill. These moments are frustrating, but rare enough that it doesn't ruin the experience for me. This game heavily relies on player exploration and curiosity. It also relies on you dieing. It will happen, and it will happen alot. The story actually acknowledges this though, and it is meant to test your will.

Will you overcome your obstacles and rise above, or will you succumb to fear and go hollow?

A truly imprissive game and a unique experience. Highly reccomended, but just take breaks when you get too angry. Continuing to play when you're distresed tends to amplify the problem and only results in more anger. Take a break, ponder, and return with a clear head.

I was skeptical about whether a game with low resolution Doom-esque graphics would be able to create an atmosphere convinving enough to be at all frightening. I am no longer skeptical. This is one of the few games I've come across that has been able to reliably jump-scare, and genuinely firghten me. Additionally, the game has a really well tuned sense of humor. It never takes itself too seriously, even when you run into some of the more "serious" areas of the game.

Ultiamtely this game takes up little hard-drive space, oozes charm, and also oozes ooze. I can't wait to watch my girlfriend squeal in fear as a cute tree-stump appears from the wall.

10/10 A very romantic game.
