About as perfect as a remake can get. All the essence of the original, but revitalized for a modern audience. Was a lot of fun doing all the challenge runs, and I'm super excited to see what they do with an RE5 or Code Veronica remake.

Steins;Gate is easily one of the greatest time travel stories out there. It's honestly the full package, with great music, great writing, entertaining characters and an engaging story. Having watched the anime a number of times, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the VN does a great job not only providing far clearer explanations as to the intricacies of the world's mechanics, and also fixing a lot of the issues I had with the anime in general.

If you take the time to fully understand how everything works, SG actually does a pretty great job remaining logically consistent, and avoiding many of the writing pitfalls of the average time travel story (for the most part anyway). In a number of instances it does still find itself riddled with plot holes if you think about it too hard, but I think this is more a failing of the concept of time travel itself, and doesn't really detract from the story it's trying to tell at all.

If I had any criticisms, I'd say that trying to get all of the text message achievements was a bit of a hassle, especially with so many branching paths in the text message conversations. I feel like without following a written guide or flowchart, getting a lot of these achievements would be more annoying than they're worth. This isn't really much of an issue for most people who wouldn't bother getting these achievements, but I'm just thankful for the people who took the time to make the text message flowcharts for the community.

Overall, massive recommendation if you're a fan of interesting sci-fi, time travel, witty banter, or even just good fiction in general.

This game brings back so many memories I never even had. It has a very unique format for storytelling which feels a little too immersive, and really makes you FEEL like an angsty 2008 teen experiencing social dramas.

Thanks, I hate it. Would recommend.

RE5 is a beautiful pile of grilled chaotic cheese. If you can find someone to play with, it's one of the most enjoyable co-op experiences out there. Just make sure you install the fan-made patch to get it working, and grab the resolution upscaled cutscenes mod while you're at it.

This is probably the best use of time travel as a central gameplay mechanic I've seen in a game...and it's in a mod for Portal 2. Honestly if they just expanded this and turned it into Portal 3, I'd be a happy camper. Some of the puzzles may have melted my brain a little, but it was all worth it.
