The appeal is not be for everyone. Do you want to master how to defeat one enemy in every way possible? Memorize their moveset so that they can't even touch you? Make armor from their flesh that allows you to fight their friends?
This game might be for you.

Does it have issues? Sure. Could things be better? Sure. But does it remind me of the feeling that SotN gives me even after my 20th time playing it? Yes.
Update for the randomizer mode: It can either be game breakingly op, or much more difficult because of the items and drops enemies give you, but man, it's a lot of fun.

A fun little clicker for the low, low price of free! What's not to love?

I'm going to break down the order or my observations and feelings of the game as I played it.

A Fallout parody. Cool, if not quite written to my tastes.
Inspired by the Borderlands art style and humor. Awesome, love Borderlands.
A roguelike seeming dungeon crawler RPG. Not quite my cup of tea, but the RPG elements keep me interested.
Time limits for each "dungeon" floor where a near-invincible death machine hunts you down. Nope. Done. I'm out. Not for me.

I take forever in the Fallout and Borderlands games because I explore EVERYTHING, and you can't do that in this game. Maybe it's because I'm not used to the genre, but this isn't something I can accept.

One of the floors I found had a split left and right in the first room. I went right and came to a dead end. As I turned around to come back to the left side, I ran straight into the death machine, who then used their weapon to pin me to a wall and murder me.
Not fun.
I know you'd usually be able to escape in some way, but it really hurt my opinion of it.

Is it a bad game? No, I don't think so.
Is it a game for me? No, it's not. But that doesn't mean it won't be great for you.

Just keep in mind if you see the other reviews here and see Fallout and Borderlands mentioned, it's inspired by them in very loose ways. Don't come to this looking for a cheap indie version of them.
