A nice relaxing game with an amazing atmosphere. Looks and plays a lot like Anno 1404 (which is not a bad thing). The campaign is nothing to write home about, but the sandbox mode is where it's at. The new world is a great addition and the expeditions are great as side-activities. The only gripe I have is the performance. I would have expected to run this game on (at least) almost ultra-setting with 60fps with my RTX 2070 but sadly it is nowhere close to that. It does not bother me that much though as it is just a city-builder and not a shooter or the like but just keep that in mind. I don't know how bad the performance is with other systems but I sure hope the devs do something about it.

Finally a DLC for India! This new EU4 DLC pack brings loads of new mechanics to the table, and playing in India will never be the same. Interesting mechanics for the Mughals, upgradable trade centres and more. I think this pack is worth it for it's many great feutures, though as with every other EU4 DLC, it's on the pricey side.

An immersion pack with actual good value. The naval doctrines are a nice option for every nation in the world, as is the knowledge sharing. The innovativeness is pretty useless, but a nice addition nonetheless. If you like to play in or around the British Isles, this is a must have!

Europa Universalis IV is one of the best grand strategy games, and arguably one of the best strategy games in general, on the market.

It's amazing what you can do in this game, and what variety there is. Do you want to build a trade empire and colonize the world as Portugal? Yep, you can do that. Do you want to restore the Byzantize Empire to its former glory? You can do that too. Do you want to conquer all of Africa as Kongo? Ofcourse you can do that!

Almost every county, and at least every region, plays very differently. For example: playing in Africa revolves around eating enough land around you, then developing provinces and trying to spread an institution to your lands as fast as possible. If you do not yes have that institution and adequate technology when the Europeans arive, you are as good as dead.

In the middle east, you do not have to worry about tech and institutions that much like in Africa (though it is still important that you do not get behind in tech compared to your neighbours). What you do hav to worry about though, is the big looming threat of the Ottoman Empire. They are an early game powerhouse, and will stomp your nation if you do not prepare (speaking from experience).

These are just some examples of the variety. Major nations like Russia, the Ottomans, Poland and a whole lot more even have unique mechanics, government types and events that makes playing them really fun and unique.

This game also has a large collection of archievements to help you setting goals. If you are out of inspiration as to which country to play next, just pick an archievement that sounds fun and try to get it!

Multiplayer is easy to set up and can be the most fun you will have in this game.

There are a few problems with the game, but most of them are minor. One of them is that the naval aspect is really basic and underdeveloped compared to the rest of the game, while historically naval superiority was one of the most important things in a war (just look at the sieges of Azov). And of course the big elephant in the room, the DLC prices and amount. Paradox didn't do a good job keeping essential content out of the game and putting it in a DLC (looking at you manual province development and tranfering province occupation). If you buy this game, please buy the Art of War and Common Sence DLC with it, it will greatly improve some aspects of the game. The rest of the DLC's are nice to have if you really like the game, though some are far better than others.

An exellent game with superb story telling, athmopheric locations and interesting characters.

Pros:
- A huge world to explore, ranging from the desolated swamps of Velen to the cold cliffs of Skellige
- Very pretty graphics, okay optimization
- Choices you make in the story actually matter, right after you made them as well as quite a bit later in the game
- Some of the best and most diverse quests I have ever seen in a video game
- Well thought out characters with their own distinct personality
- In-game collectible card game
- DLC's that add an extraordinary amount of extra content and gametime to the game

Cons:
- The combat and controls in general didn't feel that fluid or in depth (could just be me)
- Too much hand-holding in the form of quest routes, markers everywhere and automatic horse riding

Conclusion:
If you have not already, please buy this game. It is well worth your time and money. Genuinly one of the best games I have ever played.

Even now, 16 years later, an amazing game. The developers are working on a new patch which will fix multiplayer and balance issues. Recommended.
