Loved playing this. Not perfect, pacing is completely off and a lot of mechanical details feel like they don't matter in the end, but nothing that kept me from loving the game.

100% finished on Steam Deck but before full support was added, using the trackpad as a full screen mouse region.

Some of the most fun I've had in years playing co-op. Drop in drop out functions are perfect.

Democracy will always win.

Perfect little puzzle game, very relaxing. Will definitely check out their other puzzle game Railbound.

Only played the campaign and would pay full price for just that. Super generic characters and corny story but so so so well done. One of the best SP action games I've ever played. It keeps getting better and the pacing is absolutely perfect.

Playable on Deck (I've had some EA Launcher issues at first, as expected) and the cloud save doesn't always work. You'll have to be online to play so you'll need a mobile hotspot on the go. The campaign does really deserve to be played on a big screen though. I've played 50/50 on Deck and PC.

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Super fun little indie gem. If you're into old school gameplay you'll love this, and the game is much more forgiving with its saves.

I understand that some people find this frustrating, the balance in difficulty is a bit off. Also I would strongly discourage doing a first playthrough on hard.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on their other games!

Perfect for Steam Deck.

One of the best sub 10 hour games I've ever played. Atmosphere is unparalleled. There's a certain rhythm to the movement and combat that takes some getting used to but feels extremely satisfying once you get the hang of it.

If you're unsure about this game, play it and go north or east when given the option. After about an hour you'll know enough.

It doesn't overstay its welcome but leaves plenty more to do for those who wish.

At first this game just hurt my boomer hands but as I eventually learned how to play I realized this game is as near perfect as it can be. It's a game I'd recommend to almost everyone. Even if it's not their genre, because it definitely wasn't mine.

This game is huge labour of love. The art design, aesthetic choices, storyline and the amount of research that went into this is amazing. Played it on my Steam Deck which it is perfect for.

If you're only slightly interested in medieval history and like reading this game is for you. Gameplay wise there really isn't much to it but that's not the point. So if a slow game with a lot of reading isn't for you, I wouldn't even bother.

Choices matter in how people act towards you later in the game, but the story will stay the same. This might be where the critique may come from that it's linear. The story is so well crafted in how all elements come together that it never bothered me. Pentiment is like reading a novel. Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose was a huge inspiration for this game so if you're a fan of that genre, you'll love Pentiment. It's also a beautiful way of seeing how rural life was in that time period. The relations between clergy and the different classes are beautifully shown through story and dialogue.

All characters are fleshed out and well written, I started to care about everyone in the town and you'll get really invested after a few hours.

The music is beautiful and accompanies the scenes perfectly.

One negative for me was the save system. I would've liked to go back to a few checkpoints to check other outcomes or simply because I didn't have the chance to play for a few weeks so I could refresh my memory but that wasn't possible. After the game is finished your savegame is also gone. Minor annoyances of course, and I understand how this could also be a design choice.

I'd still recommend this in 2022 or later for full price, it's a wonderful puzzle game. Most of the comments other people have are about the mechanics not being taught or introduced. You enter a level and all of a sudden all the rules are changed and you have to figure stuff out for yourself. One of the first puzzles is already very much out of the box, and that gives you an idea of what the game expects from you, which is why I was pretty much ok with not having a clue at first what is possible.
Buy the game and try to finish entire world 2 (which is the first world in the game). If you enjoy the ideas thrown at you there, you'll probably enjoy the rest. If not, it takes a lot less than two hours so you can refund.

Beautiful visuals, great music. Starts with a rewind gimmick but becomes so much more. There are a lot of philosophical ideas behind the story and figuring that all out is a huge puzzle in itself, but I can recommend this game based on 'just' the main puzzles.
