Don't buy the game for PvP. It's intentionally unbalanced, but the bigger issue is that rage quitters are not punished at all and you don't gain rank if they quit. Single player story content is also very scarce if you don;t want to just play Goku's story the entire time.

I have 1811 hours in the game as I write this. I have spent a decent chunk of change into the game, most going to keys to buy hats and such. I am a very avid trader and have a backpack worth over $1k. Now that is my experience with the game and i must say... this game is complete ♥♥♥♥ most of the time.

The community is one of the main things that is brought up in the negative reviews of tf2, and as a person who is very experienced with the kind of people they talk about, I would have to agree with them... for the most part. Now the community is some what justified in judging hatless, gibus wearing, or f2p players in this way since a lot of the time they are the people on servers who have no skill at the game, run in thinking they know what to do, and just end up skrewing over their team and making themselves look stupid. Hats to the people who are active members of the community show that “Hey! I am not 100% new to this game, I am not going to play a class that our team already has 5 active players on and I`m not going to be an idiot who couldn`t even keep themselves alive when you only have to barely nick the opposing player once to kill them. I know what I am doing, I know the basics of the game, and I won`t be a waste of space on this team!” Now they complete opposite is assumed of people who dont have hats since they have mostly seen people with out hats be extremely bad at the game and end up costing their team a very valuable player spot even when someone with just very little knowledge of basic mechanics of the game could be a ten times more valuable team mate.

Now that I have justified some of the communities “opinion” its only just that I point out what they are DEAD WRONG with. They think that the people with hats are the only people with any skill at all. This is an unfortunate case since people with skill obviously can and do have skill in the game but like I mentioned above, their experiences with the worst kind of players have been the with hatless people. But even seeing skilled players, they still hold that blind assumption .But enough with the community, let me talk about the game.

AND MY GOD,THIS GAME IS MADE SO F-ING POORLY. Very few people EVER talk about this but the Source Engine is an extremely poor choice for such an action heavy and free flowing experience. There are many many MANY instances that you will die to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from point blank melee swings SOMEHOW completely missing who ever you are fighting against. And it isn`t lags fault when both people have under 50 ping and it constantly happens even against bots run on your own computer. Another problem with the Engine and how poorly Valve has made the game are the hitboxes. Now granted some of the problem is latency in this but not to the extent that TF2 does. The hit boxes on some of the projectiles are incredibly large and have never been (and never will it seems) be fixed even though the game is still extremely alive and kicking. Mainly talking about the huntsman and pomson above but the bigger and very frustrating problem is laggy hitboxes. Ask anyone that has played the game for more then 10 hours and ask them how many times they have died to bullets even though they honestly seemed safely behind a corner. They will say way too many times to count. Now this gets on peoples nerves time and time again and will make you pissed when you eventually get hundreds, or thousands, of hours into the game especially when you were doing great and then die to a bullet that shouldn`t have even been close to killing you. (Rage more oftenly felt by being getting sniped, but almost every damn time when a heavy aims at you)

Now I personally feel like scores on a review shouldn`t be as important as they are but if I had to give TF2 a score, it would be a 5/10. The game is poorly made, its hard to describe (as you could probably tell by my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ writing) but after enough time you start to notice how poorly made the game is and if you become part of the community, you can easily tell the game is extremely unbalanced, especially with the engineer. But you will get tons of fun out of it, and if you are collector you will spend tons of money on it. Although, over all, it is a very messy game (just as every Valve game is).
