You managed to create the perfect combination of items.
Once you kill one enemy and you set off a rube goldberg chain of debuffs, that makes bodies explode, slows enemies and burns them to ash, feeding a growing snowstorm that freezes and damages your foes, leeching health for every tick of damage, giving you a shield that stacks with every kill, making your graphics card beg for mercy. Enemies and bosses alike melt in front of you. You're invincible, you're going to beat the game. Who's going to stop you? You have the power of god and anime on your side!

Out of nowhere you hear a guitar. Almost inaudible at first, it plays a few notes, barely a melody. Your brain refuses to recognise the pattern.

The guitar repeats the notes.

A cold shiver creeps up your spine. Everything is going perfectly, your health and shield bar is full, your 17 health drones swarm around you like cleaner fish a great white, you see enemies get atomised in cinematic 12 fps and yet....
something is off.

Suddenly, the guitar plays a quick melody, not very loud, but it hits you like a freight train.
Something from behind attacks you, dealing 4 trillion damage instantly.

Before you can even make sense of what happened, the screen tints yellow and freezes.

Roundabout by Yes echoes through your head, while you read the final message:

This game is a gem. With full controller support it's finally perfect.

Not perfect, but really fun
If you're looking for a similar experience to Enter the Gungeon, you'll be sorely disappointed. If you (like me), played so much of Enter the Gungeon, you want that "Oh my god, what is going on? How can anyone beat this? This is impossible!! Help, help, help, help"-feeling again, this is just the right game for you.
This game perfectly achieves what it sets out to be: A short, overwhelming experience, where the player is forced to adapt quickly, constantly trying to gain control.
Ditching the strategy and focus of the last game (but keeping the humor), Exit the Gungeon dials the RNG up to 11, but the fast pace keeps it from getting too frustrating.
In my opinion Exit the Gungeon is easier to win, but a lot harder to master. (I exited the Gungeon on my 4th try, it took me 400 to kill my first past )
The updated sprites look really good and fit to the world that Enter the Gungeon established, but the UI....... oh god....
While serving its purpose, it's extremely ugly and out of place. In my opinion the old UI would've suited this game a lot better. Some other changes feel odd too:
-While in Enter the Gungeon the merchants sold items fitting their character, here each merchant sells the same stuff.
-Some bosses vary extremely in difficulty, depending on which elevator they appear in.
-Why doesn't blasphemy delete the arrows generated by elevators?
-Why do you have to confirm every route switch on the computer seperately?
(-Why is there a 15 second wait before you fight the final boss (that you can't skip) where nothing happens?)
((-Why does the magnum have the same flavor text as before, but 10 shots in the cylinder?))
While it's probably a weird criticism, I feel like they changed a bit too much.

I think Exit the Gungeon is a great little game, with tight controls and flashy visuals (except the UI). It doesn't make a secret out of the fact that it's targeted at veteran gungeoneers. I can see how this game might not be as fun for those who aren't. I'll probably 100% this game, but won't get anywhere near the 500+h I have in Enter the Gungeon.
7/10 It felt great to get slammed by the bullet king his majesty's chancellor again
