Unbelievable game. I am relatively new in the series and I really like MHW. The older MH-Games on the handhelds didn't make it easy for me to like them due to missing QOL functions.

If you are used to playing many games, you are always looking for new gameplay mechanics, or stick to those that work well for you.
That's exactly where this game surprised me so much. It's sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes illogical and sometimes you just want to freak out and smash your controller (or M/KB) against the wall. But that's exactly where the series' lasting charm lies. It is something of its own, with its own weaknesses and own strengths.
Especially the strengths develop further and further as you progress in the game and get behind hidden mechanics. The first time you killed/captured a new monster, the moment another mechanic just "clicks" for you. This is a great moment of accomplishment. It's very very charming for a big game like this in the current lifecycle of AAA-games. I haven't experienced something like this for a very long time and I'm glad that I finally beeing able to enjoy this beautiful game series with the PC release and the accompanying QOL changes.

If you have to compare MHW, I would compare it to the souls series, wich I never really got into, since my pain limit is probably a bit too low :D And I'm simply not that gud D:

About the current multiplayer issues:
- yes, there are massive connectivity issues (especially at rush hours in the evening)
- yes, it sucks
- yes, it looks like capcom is doing something about it
- no, it's not unplayable, but I can fully understand if anyone wants to wait for a solution.
