There's a lot of bugs, especially for AMD users. I don't recommend this one for now.

The game is good with a lot of upgrades and QoL improvements over the first one, but it takes quite a bit of effort and legwork to get this running properly widescreen on Windows 10/11.

This is still in beta, and it really shows through. I'll try not to focus too much on the negatives, but here are a few:

ҩCommand Wheel is need work and feels out of place. Half the time the chosen commands do not work (especially Feed Pet)

ҩIf you place your PalBox too close to a wall/cliff/boulder, then when you go to summon Pals to your farm , they will get stuck inside of the walls and starve to death because they can't get to their food. They are also too far spaced behind the wall to be able to Pick Up or manually feed.

ҩThe crafting animation speeds up each successful craft- this causes a very hilarious effect where your character is moving very fast and looks unnatural. To replicate this, try crafting 30 arrows at once

ҩNetcode is garbage; Rubber-banding everywhere, problems connecting and staying connected.

ҩUnaddressed and flagrant cheating- This is a new one; Jan 25th 2024 the devs put out an announcement that they were "aware" that cheating is going on large-scale in their multiplayer servers- but did not provide a patch or ETA on when this would be attempted to be fixed. This is also a slippery slope because if they try to add kernel-level cheat protection or focus it too much on client side then the game will suffer quite a bit.

ҩLittle-to-no story, low amount of NPCs, dialogue leaves much to be desired, plot holes; For example the first NPC you meet after starting the game claims that SPOILER AHEAD: he was involved in a shipwreck that led to hundreds of his friends getting killed- and none of those "hundreds" of friends managed to catch a pal- Directly contradicting what you find in the journals laying around . There are some small villages but the NPCs don't have much to say and there are no "quests". When you make it to a tower to fight a boss, there is no context- like literally who is this person? A longer cutscene or some dialogue would be appreciated here!

ҩLackluster dungeons- These need a ton of work. The beachside dungeon literally only has one chest in the back and it takes like 10 minutes to walk through. Painfully slow to progress even without fighting anything.

ҩYou can catch humans?? - This is not explained in the game beyond it claiming that "catching humans is considered 'inhumane' "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Positives!

ҩGreat combat, skills, stats, levels etc- Scratches that RPG itch. You can level your stats, unlock things, etc.

ҩLarge variety of Pals that actually look quite great. I am really loving the cat-themed ones. For example, Mau and Cattiva.

ҩGreat interactions with the pals- It's the little things that matter. You can be building something, and one of your Pals comes over to help finish it, once it's done the Pal turns to you and gives you a big beaming smile. I appreciate stuff like that.

ҩVery decent crafting/base system- I would akin this to "Satisfactory" without conveyor belts.

ҩTime-sink: Easy to spend 3-5 hours with it seeming like 30 minutes.

ҩGood graphics , moderately optimized

ҩAccessories- Not just guns!!! There are a lot of interesting custom accessories you can get for your Pals and it really adds to the experience.

ҩBeta – This is a good and bad thing, while there are bugs there are plenty of updates to hopefully look forward to.

I will update this review later when I get more time in the game. Overall, I recommend this game- but keep in mind it does have some bugs!

This game is a great way to unwind after a stressful day, or to just "unplug" for a while. The graphics are nice and it runs great on a potato. They update it quite a bit. The updates usually contain a bunch of stuff too. Doesn't really go on sale too often, but still worth it at full price in my opinion! It is early-access, but don't let that discourage you(edit- no longer EA, 1.0 has been released!), there's lots of content to be had. The game focuses on base building and does a really good job at it- better than many other games I've seen with base building. The vehicles are great upgrades

Launcher shenanigans aside, the campaign is actually quite fun.

Wish there was a "middle thumbs" rating. I really liked Powder Toy and the early version of Noita, but there doesn't seem to be enough changes and updates to the game to really catch my interest. It feels like the same Noita that I had a year ago on xbox gamepass.

The game is unforgiving, hard in difficulty- It would have been great if there was a additional normal pickaxe you could start with to actually mine with- usually the starting wands really suck at that.

Also, I read in another review that there is a lot of "lore" hidden around in messages, npc interactions, secret areas, etc. I didn't find any of these apparently- just a few random shops.

I wish there was a Sandbox mode where you could create levels similar to how Powder Toy lets you "paint".

Otherwise, it's an okay game- I wouldn't say it's worth the $20 price tag though, so grab it on sale.
