Last time I played this game was in 2012 and when I got into PC gaming, I checked to see if this game was on Steam, it was taken off the store. Coming back to it in 2024, it is just as I remember: a bit janky gameplay, a pretty decent story in my opinion, but what I really missed was how the dialogue system was and that making decisions do affect other characters in a more meaningful way than most games do. While this game is not for everyone, I would still wholeheartedly suggest this game to everyone I can. And even though it has been years since this game came out, I am still waiting on a sequel.

This game definitely feels more like spiritual successor rather than a clone of Left 4 Dead. I really like the gameplay, from the way the guns feel and sound to main gameplay loop. The perk deck system adds the type of complexity to builds that is really easy to get into, but moderately difficult to master if you are not used to that sort of thing (I recommend learning to Min/Max a DnD character as practice :) ). What also I find great is that the separation of perk decks, so you don't have Swarm Decks taking up slots for your Campaign or Solo decks.

The only thing I don't like is that lack of solo progression, whether that be for achievements or supply points. From what I am gathering from other articles, this is suppose to be how you could stop the supply point farming, but if that is how someone wants to spend the time playing the game to unlock the cosmetics I say let them. They already spent the $60 dollars and its for only cosmetic stuff, no harm no foul in my book.

Also it discourages people from wanting to play the game because I know that some people, me included, who only want to play the game either solo or with people I know and don't want to play this type of game with randos (random people). Hopefully this gets fixed and it seems like they are looking into ways to make solo playable ( https://www.ign.com/articles/back-4-blood-solo-mode-rewarding-progression ), but the easiest way to remove that disabling of achievement progression, inability to earn supply points in solo, and remove the solo deck category and move those slots to the campaign deck slots.

Overall, great game, can be greater. If the game interests you, buy it. If it doesn't and you don't have it already, buy Left 4 Dead 2 for a similar experience

I like this. It starts a bit slow and unless you pay, you won't be able to hold a lot of weapons or frames but if you just want to use one weapon over and over, then you have no problem

This game is a good one, but fairly challenging. Unless you are good at combos, dodging/blocking, or have any patience to do any of the former, i don't recommend this game. Because even if you play the standard ladder matches on beginner(which is the lowest difficulty), you will fall short and continue to lose over and over again.

But other than that, the game is solid: good story, good characters. Would i buy it at full price: no, but its a great game you can with your friends
