This has probably been beaten down to a pulp like a dead horse, but if you haven't read the countless forum posts and Steam reviews down below me already, then let me summarize to reiterate.

Without the obvious glaring (visual and background) issues, the core gameplay in itself is actually fairly good! I experience it akin to an expanded-upon Civ V with some of the needed improvements introduced in Civ VI, at least from the early-game segment that I've played. The game mostly does a decent job at helping you get familiar with the new mechanics, and if you've played Civilization before, you'll mostly know what to expect.

Now here's the (again, obvious) problem:

The UI (and options menu as well) is extremely washed, and honestly slightly tragic.
Open up Civ VI's game options. You have things like Quick Combat, Quick Movement, perma-show yields in HUD ribbon, etc. NONE of those options are currently avaliable.
In-game, the UI just looks...ugly? The scaling is lowkey not suited towards your desktop resolution. It looks like it's made for playing with console on a TV or playing on your smartphone. God bless any Ultrawide players.
The health bars look hella displaced and out of theme. Speaking of, the overall UI color scheme is very monotonous, grey and drab, and almost mechanical. It's not fun for the eye(s). A lot of useful information (combat etc.) is lacking to say the least.

There's barely much customization to go off of, either. 3 map types? No resource distribution? Things like this add more replay value, Firaxis. You can't entirely rely on community mods to fulfill the basic features that makes earlier Civilization titles great.
Also, for the love of God or any higher being:
STOP USING DENUVO ANTI-TAMPER! IT ONLY HURTS YOUR SALES!
Not to mention, the performance issues that come along with it (it doesn't run too bad on a laptop RTX 4070 with a Ryzen 7 7735H, but that's with medium settings, FSR3 balanced). An extremely messy DRM that honestly is the tipping reason I can't recommend putting any money into this game in its current unpolished state. This is currently not representative of a base $70 product, believe me. You can do better than this, Firaxis. You've proved it before.

As another reviewer has mentioned: go play Balatro instead, at least until this blows over.

I bought this game only 3 days ago, yet I already have over 26 hours played

This game is so addictive that I can actively feel my dopamine receptors fry in real-time just strategizing around reaping in the most gargantuan number of chips on my screen. So many synergies that just feel like a lightbulb powering on top of your head when you discover them.

Don’t buy this at your own risk, you might neglect the rest of your free time (and responsibilities for that matter).

Saw this game on YT and decided to buy it 2 days ago (as someone who's played a lot of osu! on and off the last 8 years).

It's extremely fun and addictive, although it can be frustrating and feel pretty grindy at times (in this game, you're dead if you miss one beat). It took me about 6 hours to get all 38 achievements, and now I'm looking forward to learning and playing custom levels.

A very classic easy to jump into yet hard to master game. Give it a try.

Modern Warfare 2 in 2020 is actually fairly active. You can usually find TDM games almost instantly and there are only cheaters few and far in-between (a usual misconception with this game in recent years involving rampant cheaters). Try to purchase this game at a lower price, however.

If you're a fan of Super Smash Bros. Melee, don't be afraid to pick this game up. Great visual presentation, soundtrack, characters, and mechanics both new and imported from Melee. Fairly easy to pick up for both newcomers and Smash players alike.

This game still sucks. Consequently, the community is absolutely abominable.

EDIT 4 years later: the above statement still stands.
