Okay, I'll admit it: It's funny for five minutes. After that it gets annoying real fast. The game is basically repeating the same joke over and over again. Guess what, buy a DLC hahahaha........ riiiiiiight, I get it.

Grab it during a sale if you have to.

According to a lot of the reviews there's only two types of people on this planet. Those who have a soul (and heart!) and those who don't. The first are going to love this game for what it is and appreciate what it has to offer; the others - don't.

While I loved 'To the Moon' which left me weeping at the end like no video game has ever done before, playing through 'A Bird's Story' proved to be quite a challenge for my limited attention span.

While the soundtrack leaves nothing to be desired the story really doesn't cut it for me. It wasn't even remotely as special as 'To the Moon'. It's not even the lack of dialogue but more the fact that there isn't that much story to begin with; keeping that in mind the 1 hour length of this piece even seems stretched and too long.

No recommendation this time.

Season 2 (beside well, being 'The Walking Dead') has a very different vibe than Season 1. The missing relationship between Lee and Clem really shows in the first third of episode 1. Other than that: Telltale is at it again! They're quickly becoming my favorite game company; both 'The Wolf Among us' and 'TWD Season 2' are no-brainers to add to the library in my opinion.

PROS:

+ Once again, great writing and pacing. Telltale rocks at telling stories.
+ Continuation of the above; you'll feel proud (or ashamend, depending) whenever Clem mentions Lee.
+ WTF moments -> Yep! You'll have 'em here.

CONS:

+ Short (Episode 1 - 90 minutes playtime).
+ Waiting for Episode 2.


If you loved the first you'll love the second.

Solid survival horror game with some flaws. 7/10

PRO:

+ Dense atmosphere - the game will keep you on edge from start to finish.
+ Great musical score - very high production value here; the game sounds like a Hollywood movie.
+ Game mechanic - The camcorder feels fresh and new
+ Game mechanic - The chases are very well done

CONS:

+ Level design - Some of the dark passages are more annoying than scary when you can't see a thing even with the nightvision on.
+ Game design - The chases are getting repetitive after a while.
+ Short - You can finish this is about 6 hours. Limited replay value.

VERDICT:

Solid survival horror experience with some design flaws. I'd buy it when it goes on sale. If you like horror movies, Amnesia and the F. E. A. R. series (without guns) then you're going to enjoy this ride.

Background: I played the hell out of the original two games when they first came out in the 90ies. XCOM managed to blend tactics, management and RPG elements together in a way that had not been seen before.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a reboot, not a remake. While staying true to the original's feel and atmosphere some things are different this time around. IMO they did a good job managing to capture the attention of both Veterans and Newcomers to the XCOM world.

The Good: There's an actual storyline told in cutscenes this time around, a lot of customization options for your troops and the combat missions seem a lot more fluid due to the cutsceny animations when you're scoring a hit. Love it!

The Bad: Quite a few more bugs than the original games (though those were bug-ridden as well). The most annoying ones this time around: Savegames can glitch after pressing the save button a lot and aliens can sometimes come at you through a wall when the spawns are triggered.

Another thing veterans are going to notice: A lot of systems were dumbed down a little, research has been slightly cut (only one alien craft to research for example) and base defense and facility improvements are also way less than in the original. However, looks like Firaxis is going to expand on these things with future expansion packs like 'Enemy Within'. Here's hoping they'll take the Civ V route with fresh content every now and then.

They did it again!

It really seems like Telltale found their niche. If you liked 'The Walking Dead' then you're going to fall for this noir fairy-tale as well. Great art direction, incredible vocals and an evolving story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love the setting and enjoyed it even though I never laid my hands on any of the 'Fable'-stuff.

Looking forward to Episode 2+ !

You're getting about five short episodes (each about 20 minutes long) starring new people in this DLC. The original cast (aside from one optional cameo in Russell's story) is not featured here.

To me it was definately worth the 5 bucks. Very enjoyable and I even played through it twice for the optimal outcome.

Definately one of the best games of 2012.

If you're into adventure games or a fan of 'The Walking Dead' there's no way around this one. Perfectly executed story-telling, too.

Dear Esther: You either get it or you don't, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground with Chinese Room's island tour. Look it up on Metacritics, you'll know what I mean.

Definately aimed at grown ups with it's main themes being grief, loss, faith and guilt. I recommend this if your attention span is longer than a few minutes and you're game (no pun intended) for a slightly different ride.

It's not long, you can finish it in about 90 minutes or so.

'To the Moon' pretends to be a traditional JRPG and plays like a point-and-click adventure. However, none of these things matter as the story behind it all is driving the whole experience. Surprising and heart-warming tale of a man and his last journey.

Notes: Only plays four to five hours. It's much more a visual novel than a game.
