Hey, kid! Have you ever wanted to be a hero?

Do you want to join up with a bunch of other young people and train to fulfill a righteous cause that you feel you were born for?

Do you want to use hyper-advanced technology to lay waste to the cities of terrified civi- I mean, UNENLIGHTENED BARBARIANS, who're in dire need of liberation through force of arms?

Do you want to feel your soul slip away piece by piece as your closest comrades fall in battle due to Command's incompetence and slowly realize that everything you were taught as a child was a monstrous lie used to justify conquest and ateocity?

Well, if that all sounds good to you, come play Mechwarrior 5: Clans! Or join the US military, but this is a lot faster.

Early Access Review
I'm no expert at Immersive Sims, but I do like to dabble, and from what I've played so far, this is a fantastic, quick game to scratch that itch. It's a pretty straightforward game- be an alcoholic PI, sneak around the shadows, and beat the hell out of some goons. the melee combat isn't complex, but I found it satisfying to bob and weave around small mobs of gangsters, letting them beat up their own buddies with mis-aimed attacks before rushing in to knock over the whole gaggle with a good punch. the limited inventory (you can only hold three different items at once, and ammo doesn't stack with its associated gun) can be frustrating, but it also means you rely more on fast, frantic melee and throwing to get through smaller fights so you don't waste what you CAN carry. Plus, the art style for this game is great, the characters are fun and trope-y, and the plot's just getting started.

This is a JRPG where your core party consists of three middle-aged homeless men who roam the streets of Yokohama, beating up hobos and drunkards for... lemme check the relevant conversions, here... Ah, yes. About $3.50 a battle.

It's peak game design, really.
