Survive the Blackout is exactly the kind of game someone interested the post-apocalyptic variety of l'inquiétude morale genre would be happy to try.
Smart writing, and distinct, intriguing characters trying to find their way in a grim, chaotic setting will only make you ache for more. Carefully navigating all the choices they face feels engaging and organic, and makes you wonder - what would I do? Discovering their personal stories, especially when the heroes respond to your actions uniquely and sometimes - truly surprisingly - feels very rewarding when you're able to guide them through an interaction safely and successfully. And let me tell you: the choices you face aren't as obvious as they may initially seem.
The setting is interesting, and the graphics only help to emphasize how stark and crude the world has become. It truly leaves you curious about the reasons behind the Blackout, and motivates you to push onwards, deeper into the story. While keeping a careful eye on resource management, that is.
Although it is easy to encounter the same random interactions in two distinct walk-throughs, the game rewards your curiosity with equally interesting outcomes to all the decisions you make, sometimes meaning life and death in the most surprising moments. This, in itself, gives the title some massive replay-value.
I would seriously recommend this game to anyone who loved Cormac McCarthy's "The Road", or Xavier Gens' 2012 "The Divide". It's grim, it's dark and engaging in its own, beautiful way.

I haven't had this much fun playing a game in years. It is absolutely ridiculous and that's the part I enjoy the most about it. Wrecking havoc never felt so amazing!
