The game is not the problem here. The game in itself looks surprisingly good for a 12 years old game. The story is super fun.

As others mentioned, the problem is the lame optimization and other small things that make the experience not what I would expect.

I'll not comment about the removed content, because this is the only GTA that I did not play (did not have PS3 or good computer at the time to play), so this is my first play through, but...

My suggestion is: Don't change whatever configuration comes predefined, because small changes make the game unplayable. It glitches, skip frames, etc. Now I'm playing it, but took some 6h researching and testing what could be the problem. Turns out, for my case, if Steam Overlay is not enabled, the game just stutters all the time.

I'm guessing because of the 16 layers of DRM added to it? Don't know.

And yes, you need to have Rockstar Launcher to play it. You go to Steam. Click Play. It opens Rockstar Launcher with a message saying "Play on Steam". I know it's a very minor inconvenience. BUT WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥. LaunchGTAIV.exe? Gone. Tough luck if you don't wanna have 15 processes running in the background for all the services while you play the game.

Then they want to complain afterwards when people start pirating their game. Pay 20 euros for a 12 years old game to deal with all this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Gonna still play it for the story, but holy ♥♥♥♥....next time just sell a virtual bag of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for 20 euros. what a disgrace from a company that made and makes so many masterpieces. Specially disappointing when you just bought the game after playing RDR2. The contrast between this "thing" sold as a full fledged game and RDR2 is just unbearable.

Again, not against the game in itself, but how it was packaged and sold as "Complete Edition". Complete Bullsh*t Edition

Lame Story. it's like watching a police TV show. it doesn't matter which mission you pick, they are all the same. Infiltrate the outpost, kill a bunch of enemies, get out.

The game forces you to stay online. It does not matter if you want to play the Story only. As soon as you enter the game, 90% of your resources are transferred to the server. Ran out of internet? ♥♥♥♥ you I guess.

The best part is that the game has some very cool RPG elements, like a fancy Clash of Clans, where you can upgrade your base, recruit better soldiers and reach a higher level on your bases. Best part? The game has no distinction between Single Player and Multiplayer, so the better weapons are only unlockable if you buy more bases, thus allowing you to recruit more soldiers, because the level is too high if you don't wanna pay.
Yes, on a Single Player game, you need to buy Coins, that are not collectible in-game, to expand your base and be able to craft better weapons.

I was really hooked into upgrading my base, getting better soldiers, etc. This is the moment I uninstalled the game. Forcing me to stay online for single player was already a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ design. Forcing me to pay on microtransactions to use better weapons on a single player game? ... dont even know what to say anymore.

The game has some challenges as well, that you can complete on single player missions. It's super fun. Best part? You can only collect them online. Everything is through the server.

Thankfully I bought this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game on Sale and only paid like 10 bucks for the entire package, including Ground Zeroes....

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ design at its best. Left EA behind on this one.
