A liberating, peerlessly designed turn-based game that had me constantly giggling + a genuinely MGS-tier thriller story with an amazing cast of characters and laugh-out-loud dialogue to boot. Do not sleep on this.

With its refreshing flexibility and buttloads of exciting skill combinations to discover Chimera Squad's combat often makes XCOM 2's look like a snoozefest in comparison, it had me going "!!!!! <3" so many times. My fav XCOM at the moment.

Pyre is easily one of the most enchanting, compelling and beautifully designed video game experiences I've played. It might seem that I'm exaggerating, but I truly think that this game deserves every single bit of praise it receives.

It's very likely that if I were to go into detail as to why I love Pyre so much I would end up with a ton of text and no one wants to read super detailed game reviews on Steam as far I'm aware, so I'll simply list everything I enjoyed:

- huge cast of well-written, fun and relatable characters (Oralech!) that really grows on you as the game progresses,
- fast-paced, deep, challenging and satisfying Rites that require both quick reflexes and tactical thinking,
- you can make the game as hard (or frustrating) as you want it to be,
- the game encourages you, both through its narrative and design, to swallow your pride and accept your defeats,
- music is great, vocals are phenomenal and audio design is super clever (the credits sequence, oh my God),
- there are dozens of possible ending combinations,
- the world is rich with lore and downright gorgeous,
- Ti'zo and Vagabond Girl are the most precious characters ever.

Please, play this game. Compared to Bastion and Transistor it's horribly underrated and this should not be the case. Supergiant Games delivered something truly unique, something that needs just as much love as their previous games, if not more.
