This is without a doubt the best World War 2 strategy/wargame. There simply isn't any better simulator of the eastern front. It is a complex games, turns can take quite a long time especially when you're really trying to have everything perfect and well organized. The game might feel a bit sluggish but when you finally win your first campaign it is very rewarding and a great feeling.

Although people complain about the DLC policy the game itself is great and it gives you a very good hours of fun to price ratio. If you check, many of people giving negative reviews already have a couple hundred hours in the game.

There's one thing people giving negative reviews are right about. It's the new comers, the players who see the game Europa Universalis with a lot of DLCs mixed into a ton of cosmetic/music packs or even e-books. So they're quite skeptical about buying the edition with every possible DLC which is a horrendeous decision.

If you want to buy the game but you're low on budget, just wait on some sales. If you are a person who loves grand strategy or just strategy games, you can buy it with the most important DLCs only which are Art of War, Common sense and Wealth of Nations. Then if you like the game you can buy the remaining DLCs when you have money saved up. If you have the money tho, you can buy it with all the big dlcs and that will give you a hell lot of fun.

The amount of hours you get with that game is huge. You can spend few thousand hours in singleplayer and then go into multiplayer which basically makes the game a completel difference. Multiplayer (in bigger groups) is about diplomacy between players, a bit more skilled fights, new, completely different scenarios and a little bit of competition if you wish.

TL;DR
The hours of fun/price ratio is amazing. Buy on sales with all DLCs or buy Wealth of Nations, Common Sense and Art of War and then buy the rest.
