I've played hundreds of games across almost any genre you can think of. I'm not even particularly a survival-crafting person (I've not beaten Minecraft since the X360 version, and I've still only played about 3 hours of Stardew Valley). Of every game that's ever left an impression on me, Subnautica takes one of the very top spots. From the lovingly crafted world design, the flora and fauna that only usually want to kill you, and the top-notch voice acting, this game isolates you with the intention of showing you something beautiful (usually still killing you in the process). Not only that, but Unknown Worlds has spawned an amazing community that will continue to push this game (and the almost-as-good sequel) to its limits. I have faith in this developer to continue releasing fantastic games (including its upcoming title unrelated to Subnautica), but it will be a long time before any developer can achieve something quite as special as this title.
