Early Access Review
This is a game from former EVE Online people so it plays fairly similar in a lot of ways. It is a slow burn, you cannot rush the game. As someone that has several thousand hours in EVE I love this kind of game and although it is lacking in some features (which they made very clear they were missing and will be releasing soon) it is absolutely enjoyable for what it is.

Almost every game has issues day 1, Pax Dei was no exception but they kept us all updated on exactly what was going on, fixes being pushed, and even sharing technical data of what went wrong and how they finally fixed it. I have yet to see another company do that (not saying it doesn't happen just haven't seen it myself).

It is a sandbox style, meaning YOU are responsible for making the game fun.
Want to build a giant dildo tower? Do it.
Want to go commit war crimes? Do it.
Want to stand there and complain the game has nothing to do? Do it.

I've spent the last 37 hours building a wall in a valley to control access to valuable resources, a trading hub, and a crafting house. Currently working on a brewery and tavern.

Your mind is the limit, go explore it.

Piss poor optimization, multiple crash/infinite loading bugs, terrible upgrade order (like the system just need to revamp order, why do I get tires after like an hour? This is the FIRST upgrade you do in real life), money is useless, AI is absolutely dumb and randomly brakes and turns into walls, graphics are subpar even compared to the last version that came out over a decade ago, so many things promised in the trailers and press releases not included, etc.

Save yourself the money and wait it out.

Those saying it lack content, read the EA notes, it says only one chapter is out. Don't buy it and complain if you can't read.

For what is out, the game feels great and as long as they keep updating it as planned it will be well worth the $19.99 price.

So far I've played two different classes (heroes?) and they feel unique, have completely different play styles, and has me waiting to see who else they have in the game. Yes it is short only having one chapter, but this was a KNOWN THING because I read the EA road map, but that one chapter has a good spread of different enemy types and events, along with a unique way of ending the chapter compared to other Diablo/Rogue like games.

I wanted to like this game, I truly did. I am a huge fan of exploration type games.

To keep it short and simple, a few missing key components are the catalyst for this review:

-Missing actual multiplayer as advertised
-Watered down AI of creatures, none interact as shown in trailers
-Named creatures and fauna are reset after a short time (Major part of game is naming things you discover)
-Unable to fly close to ground as shown in trailers

If Hello Games would have released this as early release, or a work in progress it would be wonderful. But being released as complete is a blatant lie and deception of everyone that purchased it.
