Early Access Review
Hunt: Showdown is a very tense game, one that I would most closely compare to Escape from Tarkov. I spent time playing both Quickplay and Bounty Hunt, and enjoyed both while preferring Bounty Hunt because I like to play with friends. The learning curve might turn some new players away. The matchmaking system contributes to this, as I played in matches with 75+ ranked opponents. This might just be a consequence of a smaller player base.

The ADS system - which requires holding right-mouse button to aim from hip, and pressing shift to look down sights - takes some getting used to, but after a few hours, I got used to it. The sound design is phenomenal. You quickly realize that listening is your most important resource in Hunt: Showdown. The sound of gunfire, dogs, horses, crows, zombies and footsteps can all give you away. Success in a match requires active thought on when it's appropriate to be loud, and when it's appropriate to wait and listen.

There are few games that combine PvE and PvP into a good final product. Hunt: Showdown is a rare example where it is done right. I recommend the game to all who enjoy slower-paced tactical shooters, particularly to those who have an inclination towards the guns of the Wild West.

The story is non-sensical, and the dialogue incites eye-rolling. I tried hard to like this game, but it quickly became apparent that Void and Meddler has no value beyond its visual style.
