Highly demanding and equally rewarding.

Unlike previous Souls-like games, Sekiro requires you master the games combat in order to progress. There are no attributes to sink points into as stat boosts are linked to bosses and challenging enemies, and there are no weapons to hunt for and upgrade. To advance in the game is almost entirely down to your ability to outclass your opponent in swordsmanship. Fortunately Sekiros combat is intensely satisfying.
If you are a Soulsborne veteran this entry will require you to rethink your approach and shed off your old habits, as fights require an almost rythymic quality to parry, attack and evade your enemies attacks and crush their posture, allowing for a single killing blow.

The stealth mechanics while basic add another dimension to tackling difficult areas and the verticality awarded to you via the grappling hook allows you to survey the challenge from above and plan your approach and the story is engaging and unlike previous from software games is told fairly straight, however there is plenty of lore to discover if you look for it.

Sekiro is an excellent addition to From Software's catalogue of granite hard RPGs and also has some of the series most rewarding and intense 1 on 1 boss duels yet.

As for the software side, Sekiro runs like a dream, however it is capped at 60fps. I have had no trouble running it, the game never dipping below that 60fps cap.
The game also looks outstanding, the backgrounds and levels (especially one level that has you running through a burning village at night) can be breathtaking, but the major standout is the quality of animation, even after the 100th deathblow animation is still enjoyed seeing it.

Sekiro is a truly great game, but admittedly may not be for everyone even including fans of previous games.

If you enjoy crafting the perfect character build and equipping them with the ideal weapon and armour so that they can overcome any challenge then you may find Sekiro lacking.

If you want to play a focused and pure combat action/rpg that will test your skills then don't hesitate!
