A Plague Tale: Innocence tells a story about two siblings - Amicia and Hugo de Rune - being pushed to flee from their home after it was captured by the Inqusition.

Shortly before this Amicia, fifteen-year-old girl, and her father Robert hunted in the forest. They hurry back home after a terrible encounter, but Lord Nicholas, protege of the Grand Inquisitor Vitalis, arrive and raid the estate in search of Hugo, Amicia's younger brother sick from birth. The children managed to escape so begins their journey.

From the very beginning the game shows the ability to emotionally affect the player hard and retains it until the end. The rich story, beautiful well-built world and stunning voice acting make gameplay amazingly immersive. Special thanks to Charlotte McBurney for the scene of Amicia's nightmare.

The plot develops around the siblings relationships and Hugo's deteriorating disease. The Inquisition pursues Hugo on the orders of the Grand Inquisitor who has his own interests about the boy. In the very beginning of the story children are almost complete strangers cause Hugo was locked from birth in his own room in the de Rune estate while Beatrice, their mother, tried to devise a cure. As the story unfolds they learn to interact with each other and get closer. Amicia manage to grow up quickly in this new cold plagued world where she is the only hope for her little persecuted brother to survive.

Although there are very few game mechanics, they do not bore, as they are nicely combined throughout the story. First you hide from the guard, then you light your way through the rat hordes and, as Amicia grows tougher, you kill the bastards who try to tear you apart from your only living loved one. It is very convincing development since the story unfolds grim and cruel and Amicia corresponds.

A Plague Tale: Innocence has the rich immersive story in an interesting setting of medieval-era France and excellent voice acting that creates real chemistry between the de Rune siblings.

Absolutely worth your time.
