This is really really good. Ignoring the sub-par ps2-era graphics, the game itself is a simple point and click adventure with a reverse-time mechanic. Use this mechanic to reverse time so you can change history in this small tale. The character narrative is great, the music OST is truly wonderful and the story is well written, add to that mechanic that does not feel repetitive.

For me the best part of the game was the narrative and the music, the way the story plays out and how you can influence even some of the smaller decisions is fantastic. It makes the game feel non-linear, in a linear environemtn - that is there are set zones where you can do things, you can't go everywhere and change everything and interact with everything, only with things that affect the story. But what's there is really fun to discover.

At first I didn't like the main character, Max, but after getting to "know her" through her story, she becomes immediately likable, if a little naive. It's great that the relationship between the girls and the friends is treated with such care and delicacy. It rarely ever feels cliched, especially with the fact that you can change the outcome.

The music is really really good too, the lyrics to the songs and such are also interesting. I've never been so engorssed by video game lyrics/music, that it makes we wonder if they had professional artists commissioned to do the work, or whether this was all in house. Regardless of which, the OST is just brilliant.

Narrative wise, the game never gets old, and they also added stats at the end of the chapter to compare your results, as well as reveal the alternatives you could have chosen, and world stats on the choices that were made. It feels refreshing that a point and click adventure be made seriously, with the focus on a serious-ish sci-fantasy story. I love the characters, I love the setting, and I loved the music and this particular chapter.

I can highly recommend this chapter to anyone as it only costs under a fiver and you get a good 1 hour-ish of time for each £ you spent. If this carries on the final collection should be around 15 hours.

I'm not surprised at how this game has turned out narrtive wise, it's from the same developers of Remember Me which although combat-wise was clumsy, narrative wise was very strong, and this too shows that DontNod are a vaery capable team that have put a lot of love into Life is Strange Episode 1, if they can replicate this with the remaining Episodes then we are certainly in for a valuable treat to treasure.

Dead Rising 3 has had a mixed reception, in particular because of the day 1 problems it had with many people unable to play. My friend and I were fortunate in that we had none of these problems, so I can only base this review on our experience.

The game itself deviates and evolves the existing formula with a huge city map, and doesn't require the constant need for zombrex. This means you can focus all your gaming skills on surviving, killing, rescuing and dying. We played the game on normal in story mode, so we haven't even touched the DLC yet.

Another thing that's changed is the way you combine items. It used to be that in previous games, you had to combine tape or what have you with certain items. The game has changed this somewhat, to allow you to combine almost anything with anything to create a new weapon or vehicle for the mass destruction of the undead.

When you get to a certain threshold of points, you can add skill points to your attributes, the more you add to a certain attribute the more the skill evolves and adds to your repertoire of skills. It's pretty easy to understand and use, and the variety of skills and options available are good, if not immense.

The negatives of the game, based on the difficulty we played, was that it was a bit easy, except for the last level which was really rather chaotic. The game would have been harder and more fun if some of the side missions were a requirement. The game is also rather short, at 20 hours approximately for the main story, and excluding side missions and psycho missions, it's rather pricey for the hours it provdes. Having said that, it balances this with replayability, with the abillity to redo missions where you failed, and to continue to level up and find all the secrets.

It starts of pretty well, as you take the role of the Mechanic, Nick, but then the game pretty much becomes a free for all to do whatever you want however you want whenever you want. There's a 5 day time line, but since you don't need zombrez, there's no need to reset the time. Furthermore, the game encourages you to explore the vast city, and investigate the nooks and crannies. The city is brilliant, but the number of zombies only escalates the further you go into the game.

Story wise there isn't much of one, though there's a couple of cameo appearnces, but the story is really hammy bad b-movie style. This is intentional and adds to the complete comic nature of the game. You can dress up (or dress down if preferred) in plenty of different outfits. The number of combinations of weapons AND vehicles combines to over a 100. That's pretty good going.

Overall, we had 0 problems with the game, no crashes to speak of, no lock ups or anything. It's a fun ride, with more to do even after you finished the game. To be honest, I think on your own, it's a lonely experience, with two people though, it's an absolute riot.
