Bad story, not compelling. Only some parts of the main story line were interesting, but they weren't really connected to the overall plot. I enjoyed shelob's memories more.

The gameplay is good. It's the same as the previous game but not as immersive. Having played the previous I can't help but feel disappointed because it's too similar. Having forged a new ring, I was expecting lots of new skills, but the skill tree is basically the same, but with slight modifications. Then it even became a hassle to manage later on in the game, being forced to change modifiers to fight different captains. Leading to the "nemesis system" which was supposed to be a big part of the game. Captains were supposed to be more memorable, but because of the size of the world and the number of captains you dealt with, you'd only remember a handful.

And for the worst part, there's an extremely long and painful "Shadow Wars" grind to get to the actual ending of the game. An ending which turned out to be pathetic, but pathetic only because of the grind - otherwise the ending could have been decent, or just "good" at best. But it also absolutely killed the gameplay. The nemesis system died with the absurd number of orc captains thrown to the point of duplicates. I've seen about 5 "Pushkrimps" and 5 "Krimp" named captains. The point of the system was to make captain encounters memorable, but you'd only remember a couple because of this. If an orc captain you encountered before came back, you wouldn't recall him at all, because he was the 200th-ish orc you killed and maybe the 50th-ish orc that "cheated death." Only halfway through the Shadow Wars, and I was already getting sick of the game. Once I finished, I was more than completely fed up, and then I got slapped by a pathetic ending. I am extremely disappointed developers added this as part of the game experience.
