As many have pointed out already, this is not as much a game, as it is an experience. You don't interact with anything or anyone. You just... walk. You can't even turn the flashlight on or off by your own, the game will do it for you.

This game is not about the gameplay, it's about the scenery, the music and the voice acting, which are all very well done. Especially the scenery combined with the music are stunning and is the main reason for why you should consider buying the game.

With that said, I don't recommend this game. And the reason why, is that the story is barely understandable. Maybe I'm just too dumb, but there isn't really any red line through the game (except for the walking part). In other games like this, you can pick up things and explore the enviornment in a more detailed way, which adds to the story. I really like "walking simulators", but one thing they need for me to really like them, is a good story. And Dear Esther simply doesn't have one, atleast not one I understand.

If you are comfrtable with a game that effectivly is a game made to take screenshots in because of the beatuiful scenery, then this is the game for you... For me, it's not enough.

This is going to be short and containing the word awesome a lot of times;

Awesome story, awesome voice acting, awesome characters and character progression, awesome mechanic and most of all; The choices you make really have an impact in the game.

I really fell in love with all the characters and couldn't wait for each episode to come out.

Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

A very cool game indeed! The story is very well written, as it's actually a true story, but it has been translated to the screen with success. The game contains really cool details like text books with pictures from the era you're playing in etc.

The art style in the cut scenes emphasizes the story in a very creepy (but good) way. The voice acting is for me a bit shaky sometimes and feels very "I'm reading from a script now"-ish, but it's overall good and doesn't take away from the story in any way.

I would recommend the game because of the pros above, but I have som cons as well; This might just be me, but while playing the game, certain tasks and puzzles didn't make that much sense and I ended up spending more time than needed to complete it. This included places you needed to go etc. But as said, this might just be me (seeing as I'm stupid :D).

But as said, the story alone is worth the money.

PS. For you guys that are like me and don't like scary/jump scare horror games... This is not one of them. It's just very creepy and unsettling. :)

It's a pity that this game costs what it costs. If it had been cheaper, I wouldn't have had a problem with the game.

I don't mind a "walking simulator" or a "interactive movie", infact it has become one of my favorite genres, but this game is simply too short for the price. But price aside, the story is actually pretty good and the voice acting is very nice as well. I enjoyed the game to a certain degree, but as said this doesn't justify the price tag.

Fantastic game! Cool story, beautiful scenery and awesome voice acting and character progression! I enjoyed it from start to finish. The only minus I have is that you can't run while you're holding the map, but the fact that this game even have a sprint button is unlike most in the genre.

100% recommended if you're into the story driven "walking simulator" genre.
