best game ever Not even joking it's so fun. i actively play it to breed my bugs 4+ hours a day; the mechanics are so addicting and i love all the beautiful plant decor options :3 the variety in bug species and interactions between the bugs is really fun, the art is so great and so cute, and the achievements are super fun to work towards! :D

the matchmaking is kind of refreshing bc you genuinely dont know what elo youre gonna queue into so it's relatively welcoming for new players (as long as u dont let yourself get overwhelmed by the amount of like "etiquette" things the community expects u to learn before queueing into your first game)

i wish the licensed stuff wasnt ALL behind paywall especially since u pay for the game too But like i understand. i just am not a dlc/in-game purchase type of guy so im locked out of a lot of cool stuff 🥀 i made an exception for the saw dlc though OF COURSE. saw my beloved

atmosphere, enemy design, setting design, music etc were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! theres so much lore here that is almost all "implicit" where u really need to read the docs and all the flavour text stuff to really understand whats going on. i never ran out of batteries so i think that mechanic was pretty well-balanced.

multiple playthroughs encouraged! and with the achievements it's pretty much required for the 100%

the art, music, minigame design & character design especially are SO cute and awesome, a very fun little game whose achievements offer a really good challenge >:3c

i just LOVE creature collectors SO FLIPPING MUCH!!!! very cute and silly game. though i wish it was optimized better!!!! it lags my whole computer sometimes and it's just a 2d game with max 100 fish on screen at a time, i don't see why it would be so slow/laggy when pulling up the menus.... OH and if there were hotkeys for doing certain commands, like opening the fish menu! (i know the shop menu opens with Tab, and allegedly the "sell all" button is S, but it doesn't work for me...)

anyways yah! i like how it rewards u for actively playing by feeding the fish XP pellets (letting them grow on their own takes foreverrr) and selling the adult fish for a profit while grinding to get the next bracket of fish! very epic. also how u can lock ur cursor in the corner while tabbed out and doing other things! makes it very easy to have open in the background.

a decent game! i wouldnt necessarily recommend it but it wasnt "bad" by any means so i cant NOT recommend it yknow?

because of the world layout, you have to constantly run back and forth to both ends of the map, which gets bigger and bigger as the game goes on. there are speed upgrades, but the boat speed cannot be upgraded until about the last half hour of the experience, when all you'll be doing is sitting AFK on your phone waiting for your timber/leaves to add up.

that brings me to my next comment, which is that the gameplay loop is not very fun. the main story quest(s?) have you collecting materials and currencies, which you need to wait for to accumulate. it takes time and management of a very small amount of land to get these materials earned, so i'd say i had about 30 minutes on and off of just staring at my screen or doing other things on my phone (by default i wasnt able to tab out while keeping the game clock running, so i couldn't do anything else on my computer in the meantime) and this was over a 3.3hr long playthrough.

so overall idk, the artstyle was definitely very charming, and i loved catching the fish and growing plants, but it didnt feel like i really accomplished anything... buy it on sale if you wanna add an 100% completion to your library within a few hours! there r guides available for the achievements if needed (though only one of them is optional/missable)

SO much fun! though of course it's not 100% realistic (would have way too much downtime otherwise), i've still learned a lot of cool and useful stuff thru this game!!!

the absolute best part is admiring the scenery and of course the fauna, whether you're tracking them with binoculars or checking them out up-close on the harvest screen! so many species, so many different types of environments to hunt in... my personal fav maps are revontuli, medved, and vurhonga!

sux that a lottt of content is locked behind DLCs. however u can join multiplayer sessions with people who own the maps you dont!!! (unfortunately a lot of really good weapons & sights are also locked behind DLC, with no workaround...... unless of course there's a way to unlock DLCs for free......)
