After 18 hrs of playtime, I finally finished this game. Honestly disappointed because of 2 things: Colour Customize and Optimization. The colour customize is similar to the one in KOFXIII but very limited as you only get to mix and match different colours based off the 10 palettes each character has. The optimisation is really questionable. The game looks good, but whats funny is that some characters like Noel, Vlov and Hisui & Kohaku (Duo Team) really lag the game whenever you they are on screen. I get 43 ish FPS whenever they are just on screen. They dont need to be doing anything, just standing there and it chews up FPS. Otherwise I get 60FPS across all stages with all other characters. It used to drop some FPS whenever I did a 3C but I dont see that nowadays. Might have been patched out.
The core gameplay is really good. The only downside is the autocombos or rapid beats as they are called. They can really mess up some of your combos at first and especially in mission (combo trials) mode. I really like the shield mechanic, Doing some clashes was really fun and engaging each time. I bet there are clash videos out there like in Older Guilty Gear games.
The single player is decent. Not bonkers stuff like BlazBlue ChronoPhantasma Extend, but it is is plenty.
There is: Story (Arcade Mode), Time Attack, Score Attack, Survival, Challenges and Boss Rush Mode.
You are awarded with points that you can spend in the gallery or buy icons, titles, plates and title plates for your online profile. I cant comment much on netplay as I just played 1 match for the achievement. It was ok but playable than UNIClr or some delay based netcode.
If there was a mixed option for a review I'd pick it. Those 2 negatives outweigh the positives and Im glad I finally finished the game. I can go back to CPEX or +R now
