SPOILERS in the first paragraph only.

The story is ... well the story has... well there is an ending to it. To be honest, I don't really like the ending. Duh, there is enough controversy about it on the internet already, so what is my take on that? It's too much. Too much sadness. To much sadness forced upon the characters. It's not bittersweet, but just bitter. With an additional bad taste afterwards. Somehow, this starts to manifest (for me) from the second encounter (so Abby's) in the cinema throughout to the end. Up until then, it's a sad or melancholic story. With the whole controversy, I think it's important to separate disliking the death of a beloved character and disagreeing on the (outcome of the) story overall. Personally, I don't like Joel being killed, but a better ending(-arc) could have made it work. It could have meant something. It could have been another story where the old generation makes room for the next generation. Sad, but with a glimmer of light. But this is just ... it has the notion of someone wanting to demonstrate 'Hey, I can make a sad story, too!' and pushing it to 110%. It is too much. There is not enough counter-weight. Its not balanced as all things should be.

Besides that. I love the gameplay, the world building the character interactions, the graphics, the gun play, the upgrades, damn did I mention the graphics? The animations! The way the character reacts and moves to my input. The upgrades, collecting and organizing resource usage. Something just clicks for me playing a game like this where the story is told step by step as one is going through the levels. The story is fine... for the most part.

Runs fine on Linux, had some sporadic issues with the game detecting left-mouse-button releases when I actually was holding it - awful when using the bow, doesn't matter otherwise.

Thanks for not letting this be abandonware.

Also, works out of the box on Linux. Didn't expect that.

What are you expecting me to write here? You know how beautiful this game is¹. You know the heartbreaking story. You know the fluid gameplay, fast gun switches and crafting mid action. You know the rich, powerful and sooooo satisfying sound of the guns. You know the shiver rushing down your spine when you get suprised by a clicker.... You dont!? Damn it! Stop reading and play the game!

¹ And I really mean that! Just look around what "AAA" and "AAAA" (hahaha) Games look nowadays... They cant keep up with a remastered game of 2013.

Runs very well on Linux (with AMD Hardware).
