Okay, first things first. I have played this game on and off for far more than the hours registered here, both before and after it was released on Steam. And let me assure you, you will find no game like War Thunder.

The game is not only beautiful, but it's also very well optimized. You can run it on pretty much anything and it will still look better than in many other games out there. There is a lot of content, and more is realeased with every major patch. For a free-to-play game, it is very well-done.

With that being said, I cannot possibly recommend this game to anyone anymore. The game itself is fine, but Gaijin Entertainment is the most anti-consumer company I have seen in my entire life. Aside from the man in charge of social media, many of the community moderators are absolutely terrible people. The forums are heavily policied and players are often outright censored. Most of the bugs in the game have been reported several years ago, yet they have not been fixed. They release new content without fixing what was already there. It was pay to win before, but with the addition of lootboxes that include rare event vehicles, it has become absolutely ridiculous. A fair portion of the paid content is outrageously expensive, while we are at it. They refuse to implement simple changes that would fix most of the current issues of the game, or they will do it in a way that actually hurts the players more than it benefits them. They refuse to work on content that has been missing for years now. They use player statistics for balancing rather than vehicle performance, not to mention the use of the game's economy as a soft balancing mechanic.

And yes, they also added a battle royale mode as a limited time event, and rerun it every now and then.

Players are not seen as customers. They are seen as cattle that must be milked dry and then discarded.

This is why I cannot recommend this game at all anymore.

TL;DR: The game itself is not bad. The company behind it, however, is as bad as they come.
