I'm a long-time fan of the Final Fantasy series and have played or dabbled in several of the titles. I'm not that far into XII yet, but I would already highly recommend it. From the beginning the story grabbed me, ripping out my heart and then stomping on it a few times before dropping me into a sprawling steampunk-esque world with a main character I instantly liked. Not very far into the game, I was invested. I've enjoyed every character I've met so far and I'm always looking forward to what's coming next. The storyline is keeping me on my toes too! I also have to say, I like the combat in this Final Fantasy game better than usual. I typically don't have the patience to slog through an entire Final Fantasy game with all the turn-based combat, but this one gives you a little more control over what you and your AI partners do during the battle (without feeling quite as tiresome as the Paradigm Shifts in FFXIII!) Overall, an enjoyable fantasy/steampunk romp with all the familiar elements of Final Fantasy, alongside a quirky cast of characters. Do give it a play!

Hands down one of the most in-depth games I've ever played. The scope of the world is amazing and the choices you can make draw you ever deeper into the world. The fact that you don't get easy decisions and there's no clear-cut right and wrong path make this game incredibly heart-wrenching, immersive, and real. Tons of lore, lots of monsters, and a protagonist who is witty, taciturn, gruff, and caring all at once make this game one of my favorites and one I definitely recommend to anybody who loves a good romp though an engaging (and dangerous!) fantasy world.
