A semi-active idle game where I needed to turn down all the effects towards prestige 11. The shaking and flashes was hurting my head.

Still this is a recommendation. The sense of progress and ease of picking up and play is phenomenal.

Sweet "short story" of a game, and a rewarding half an hour. Even for someone with not a lot of patience for replaying segments. As this type of platformer tends to have. Overall a well balanced curve for difficulty, and whole heartedly a recommendation.

Shout out for the great animation, which tilts larger games with a price tag.

In my opinion the best builder I've seen in a long while. City builder crossed with Dungeon Keeper, or a dungeon crawler. Steamworld-series keeps delivering, in my opinion.

I truly enjoyed sailing around and exploring the islands. As someone who cannot play scary games but really likes Lovecraft-like fiction, I enjoyed this the whole way through. It's eerie, not scary.

The game does some great balancing on certain parts, that was just right for me. Mechanics of fishing is simple and repetitive but varies enough to occupy your mind while having to be observant on the surroundings. The plot was engaging without being too talky. The since of progress and upgrades kept me busy gathering materials while exploring, almost all the way to the ending.
Controlling the boat takes a little bit to get used to. But it behaves for a reason. When steering clicked for me, I like the sense of control.

Only thing worth mentioning that I didn't quite like is that there are certain side quests that are quite hard to accomplish without accompanied by a guide.

Perfect blend of semi idle game and bullet hell. Screenshots look not awesome but in game I somehow don't care. Even though something like this would otherwise be an eyesore for me.

Builder's Journey looks great with a RTX graphics card. It was the main reason I bought the game and I got my moneys worth.

It also has a sweet, wordless story of parental relations, which actually starts off represented in the mechanics. Though I felt the most let down or frustrated a couple of times where the puzzle did nothing to teach me how to progress, and I got stuck in a loop of trial and error until sudden progress or the repetition made me figure out what was expected of me. There are also some later parts where the port from iOS becomes apparent, though with mouse (haven't tried gamepad) it's bothersome at worst.

All in all, a feel good game that's worth a sitting (which it ain't longer than) if you're leaning any way toward 'twee' kind of games.

A brilliant setup for a roguelike with story. Ever since Bastion I didn't think Supergiant Games could top it, even though the lowest bar has been set pretty darn high over the years. I think Hades does it though.

Soundtrack is superb, as always. Writing is just as good as ever. Gameplay and control is precise. More than it has ever been.

As a "run" based game it's balanced with enough random elements, and with time and unlocks enough direction to set up a build to your liking. If you're quite bad at these type of action games as I am, you'll probably appreciate building up power over time to make progress. Or just unlock God Mode and build defence on every death, if you want. :P

A great little metroidvania in the form of a "first person action platformer puzzler". Starts off quite linear and cute with the tropes of the genre it celebrates (i.e. explore to unlock abilities that will help you progress in different directions). Soon I realized I had greatly underestimated the game's depth and vastness. With that realization my appreciation for Supraland peaked. I thought I would be done with it quickly and I was ready to give up. Though I kept wanting to go back in and progress a little further. After a while I was done with the story, with a sigh of relief. And after that I keep booting it up to find a new chest or unlock a new ability to get through that door I saw at the start of the game. It has the exact pace of progress to keep me coming back, if I even closed the game in the first place.

A couple of flaws in this package of lighthearted joy is first and mostly, the combat. It starts off annoying and for a while it's just there, at its best. Keep going and tools are unlocked to either help you power through the encounters, or outright circumvent them.
The other flaw that bothered me is finding my way around in the world. There actually is a map that's stuck on the wall in the starting house. I would have wanted it available at all times. (Which, I admit, wouldn't surprise me is an unlockable or some such.)

This is isn't the hardcore Metroidvania that a veteran would be challenged by. It's the neighbor that has all the cool stuff and just wants to have fun. It could even be a great introduction to the genre.

Interesting plot and characters with potential, but it all is hindered by mechianics that aren't any fun. And I don't mean fun as in laugh out loud. The genre of narrative driven third-person games with story and role playing mechanics is too competitive nowadays to release a game where the fighting is a big part of the game and it simply doesn't feel tight. More of an annoyance between what's the strength of the game -the plot and characters.

To date this is the best application of the freedom, telling of a story and sense of cooperation for strategy that makes pen and paper role playing games so great. With that said, a few points to make that may equally fall on the positive as landing on your con list. All of this is most true as long as you enter the game wanting to experience the story and invest in the characters. Otherwise I imagine some parts fall flat. Most of the systems (like crafting etc) aren't introduced and taught which could be frustrating with no limitation of what to pick up or not (bit of the Elder Scrolls syndrome).
