Bad story, repetitive gameplay.

There are some really neat concepts here, but none of them are executed on particularly well. The story hinges on tired, overdone "natives are savages, we will bring them enlightenment" garbage, none of the factions you're supposed to rely on are good *except* for the natives, and there are story beats where you're *forced* to do things that offend and hurt the native tribes, so the game doesn't give you a faction you can be happy to spend time with.

The fighting mechanics aren't terrible, but it lacks depth. Skill points come so slowly that once you've put a couple points into a playstyle you're pretty much locked in for the rest of the game - but a given playstyle doesn't have any novelty once you lock in, you just do the same attack over and over against every enemy.

There are elements of this game that aren't bad, enough that I managed to play long enough to decide to finish it despite it's best efforts. But if you're looking for a game with a good story or fun fighting mechanics, look elsewhere.

Borderlands made me gay 10/10 no notes

The later games improved on systems and storytelling, but the original still absolutely holds up; there's simply no other franchise like Borderlands

Parvati - that's my review.

Took 10 minutes to determine that this is a lazy, bad PC port of a mobile game. It's probably a great mobile game if you like playing those, but it's just not a PC game in its current state. The UI is not at all oriented at a user having keyboard and mouse, leading to dozens more clicks or taps and extra popup screens than any reasonable person would ever consider a fun time.

I'd be interested to know what the PC game "Torchlight: Infinite" is like, but unfortunately they haven't released that yet.

The "Ye Olde" speak is extremely annoying, and the option for turning it off either doesn't work or there are just a lot of places that the setting doesn't affect. I don't know whether it's inaccurate in an attempt to be funny, or if it's just poorly done, but it makes reading menus exhausting.

Really great game when it's time to actually play the game, but if you like words being tolerable to read, it's a dealbreaker.

Not enough game here. Perfectly fine concepts but way too simple and repetitive, nothing to make me want to play it again.

Really solid design; great resource management balance, incredible gear concepts, clever elements across the board. Roguelite elements feel rewarding without making it feel like you have to mindlessly grind to be able to succeed.
