Lazy, incompetent devs cannot prevent cheaters in their lootbox opening simulator so they removed Linux support. Don't support Respawn and especially EA.

I don't use Linux but I think this is indicative of the amount of effort placed into Apex Legends and the buildup to this sort of decision making has been coming for a while. They are only getting more brazen in their attempts to take your money while simultaneously taking the easy route wherever possible and doing their utmost to prevent positive progress in the game.

After a 95 hour playthrough, resulting in 100% completion, I can confidently say that Elden Ring is the crowning achievement in the FromSoft portfolio.

The scale and detail of the world is staggering and in conjunction with the best the atmospheric storytelling in the series has ever been, it’s nearly impossible not to get sucked into the rich, dangerous world that makes you feel as though you’re truly clawing for power at every turn.

There is dead space at times but the way Elden Ring presents the world means that this is few and far between; meaning that around every corner there is something. Whether the item or NPC is of consequence or not, that matters less. The hook of the game comes from constant exploration and acquisition, it just doesn’t stop which makes it hard to put down. It evokes the concept of, “One More” at the highest order and looking at the completed map puts into perspective how packed things are. Open worlds tend to feel empty, which contributes greatly to the sense of scale but often leaves you disappointed when you commit time to exploration.

This is the true beauty of Elden Ring, you are rewarded for exploring. Stories are told, riches are gained and battles are won. Your hand is not held, you are free to experience the world however you wish and that comes with it’s own difficulties at times. But the world that you experience is one of strife and constant difficulty; and without affording the player freedom to explore, the impact of an unforgiving, de-leveled world would be lost.

The combat is simply the best it has ever been. Blending together the best from each of it’s predecessors has created a fluid experience that is designed to test your wits and reflexes. Most importantly, you are given more options than ever before to tackle your challenges ahead. The combinations of tools at your disposal are limitless and they are mostly viable, unlike in previous games where many builds suffered greatly due to the restrictiveness of the game systems. Elden Ring has finally crossed that barrier and given you the power to shape your character.

In short, I was floored by this game and felt a childlike sense of wonder rushing through me as I experienced every location (except Caelid) and defeated each boss. There is no reason not to buy this game, so forgo your concerns about accessibility or difficulty and purchase the GOTY now. It is easily worth more than full price.

High Level Overview:
Solasta, aka "D&D 5e combat simulator" has a fantastic foundation and could turn out to be something special upon release. From such a small studio, this is VERY impressive. Story is linear but it kind of needs to be like that given the size of the game. Think Dragon Age Origins but smaller in terms of travel and all that jazz. Some weak parts are character models and the story itself but you're really playing this for the combat and sense of adventure. Having a blast so far!

Detailed Review:
Combat is faithful to pen and paper D&D and is very well executed in almost every way. Verticality is implemented shockingly well, jumping and climbing are present and if you're familiar with D&D combat you'll fall right into this. This is what Baldur's Gate 3 should be, but they've chosen to stray a bit in terms of action economy which makes sense given the scale of their audience.

However, combat and exploration are kind of the only selling points of this game currently. It's in early access so a coat of polish and bug fixes will come (hopefully addressing the camera controls) but they won't be able to address the visuals of the game which are pretty lacking in terms of character models. Not really in a charming way either where they did it on purpose. It's a small studio and they did their best so I've just opted to be satisfied with the character models rather than getting hung up on it. I won't spend too much time on how the city feels since I'm hoping it will be expanded at release.

Story is weaker than the visuals in most cases. It feels like a homebrew campaign where your DM kinda wings it and lets you explore. I like that kind of thing so I'm not frustrated having adventure be the driving force behind the game.

Just know that the writing is not what you're here for. You're here to enjoy a faithful D&D adaptation with a TON of potential.

Verdict: 7.5/10 right now. Combat is spot on, it's been a blast so far. Will update the review when I finish early access. As of now, I would wait to buy this until release since a lot of things need to be ironed out but it's well worth the money.

Yes and no. This is a fine NFS better game and is one of the better ones in recent memory. If you want a Need for Speed specific street racer, this is it. But it isn't a good racing game. It's optimized poorly, lacks the visual quality of a AAA game and the car physics are pretty bad (like most NFS games). Go buy Forza Horizon 4 instead.

Fun game, you essentially death race against bullet vibrators with arms.

Great with friends.

First of all, FNV is the best modern Fallout game in my opinion. There is freedom in role playing and this is a huge plus for me. Game mechanics are excellent and the faction system is done very well, although it is realistically limiting at times. Truly, the most impressive part of any Bethesda is the community expanding on the amazing(ly buggy) framework they provide. The amount of time these games provide for the cost is exponentially greater than 90% of other games.

I suggest you look into A Tale of Two Wastelands. It requires FO3 and FNV but allows you to move between the wastelands and essentially experience FO3 with the game mechanics of FNV which are far far superior. If you are a Fallout 3 fan, or are just looking for more content, I highly suggest this as it irons out most issues I had with FO3.

Fallout 4 is a fun game, it just isn't a great Fallout game. Don't get me wrong, I have it on multiple platforms and it's more than worth picking up on sale but FNV and FO3 just do it better.

The modding community does an excellent job keeping it accessible and fixing the stuff that holds it back from being a really solid game. This being said, if you plan to play vanilla I would just avoid it. Mods are the biggest redeemer for the small issues, QoL and variety that makes it feel like a living world. Sadly, most of that is lacking in vanilla so if you don't plan on modding, I would advise that you pass. Highly suggest modding the balls off it to make it enjoyable.

If you approach the game from the perspective of it just being a post apocalyptic adventure rather than Fallout you'll probably be a lot more satisfied.

It's no secret that the online modes are a cash grab and are too grindy to be fun. If you like MyCareer but don't want to put up with all of the nonsense, just start a MyLeague and play with position lock on.

The game itself is fun, the issue is the devs being money hungry which isn't entirely avoidable.

Game of the year every year. Mods keep it current but it's still a special game.
