This was my first time really playing a visual novel game. It won't be forgotten easily, that's for sure. Go in blind and enjoy the experience!

I bought this game (thankfully using Steam Wallet money earned from selling Steam market stuff) and to be honest, this game should be free. It's certainly not even worth the 19p sale price I paid for it. Wouldn't recommend this game at all in its current state.

The graphics of the game are quite nice (for Unity Engine anyway), but that's about the only positive I can say on this game.
The combat is awkward as all heck; the one type of red "demon" enemy (nicely modelled, plus nice to see corpses linger around after death) dies in 1 shot with any of the 3 guns, but they spawn in out of thin air at times and can attack you through walls/doors (sometimes they clip through the doors) at some range.
You might die once or twice on your first playthrough due to these enemies, although death just means respawning back at the start with your weapons/progress saved, making it somewhat meaningless. The game lasts about 10-20 minutes and you're mostly guided through it effectively due to the mission tracker and how small the game area is. (with the one exception of the SCAVENGE FOR SUPPLIES part, in which you're asked to grab some floating ammo that can be easily mistaken for spent rounds, since they glow the same radioactive green...) The ending is extremely abrupt as well.

Silly Mode is hilarious for a few minutes at least. And you can speedrun the game in about a minute or so.

Do. Not. Buy. This. Game. Unless you like throwing money at weak scares, a 1-2 hour game and some crappy technical performance. (long loading times, awkward angle to interact with some objects, choppiness at times) Go play SCP- Containment Breach instead, it's free and has the same 'randomly generated area' concept, PLUS it's actually scary at times.

Very disappointing Zombie Studios, and disappointing on me for spending nearly £9 on this garbage. Last time I buy an indie horror game WITHOUT reading reviews and watching gameplay footage extensively. Lesson learnt.

This game starts off promising enough, but after the third area it ends up being a repetitive and disappointing game. Avoid.

This is one of the best horror games I've ever played. I will probably never again play a game with such a good story and atmosphere combined as Penumbra: Overture following into Black Plague! If you like horror games, or simply games with good plots, PLAY this immediately!

If you want a good horror game that provides a consistently chilling atmosphere with genuine moments of sheer terror, this is most definitely the game for you. A true horror game in every sense of the word, without question. If you like horror games, you MUST own Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
