wow ?

amazing platformer, very souls like ("bonefire", interelated map, "souls") but very original, well tougth, fun, original, and beautiful.

nice music, lots of secrets, nice philosophy, to be played.

So my first player died at 66, old age... and his son, that i didnt like, finally turned around and started to do some good stuff, and we added couple of lands to our Realm... then, after 60 years of a nice dynasty going on, some nice troops and castles... the angry Vassals tried to revolt against me, but, we had the stronger army, and the best Marshal... So we won !... actually, that wasent so nice because i lost some time and Hungary decided to claim one of the land i was getting next... But, eh, its life... Then, when i was ready to counter-attack, and get back my lands... the bubonic plague reached my island... I died... My son... died 2 years later... or even before... he had no heir... GAME OVER.

well well well !...

Exanima!...

A lot has to be fixed... and improved... and, it could be a lot more then what it is... BUT, after 5 years, it got somewhere !... it got very high !...

this game is unique, beautiful, engaging and so fascinating... The emotions, feelings i got, when exploring the first levels of the "dungeon" for the first time, i was literally running scared, nervous, trying not to die... (your life is precious! run !) but, i wanted to open all doors, discover everything... The immersion is there, the logic is there... they gave a spirit to the place, a story in the management of the rooms, you can travel in this atmospheric peace of art... and think about the place, wonder what happened to all these persons... The rooms are telling the story...

the combat ! ah... One of a kind, a new kind... a great kind!... Not easy at first glance, but, you will get it fast... and you will love it... the satisfaction of hiting a head with a massive blunt weapon...

but, combats for me are not the BIG thing in this game... I loved the way you start with nothing, and get eventually some nice equipment, armor, weapons... that you cherish ! because, being naked with a metal bar... really puts your fragile life in danger!... what i love about this game is the whole thing... the ambiance/atmosphere... the realism, but, the LOGICAL realism... Its not like these casuals game where you kill a rat, and find 3 pieces of gold on it... or you find chests in absurd location...

The rarity of the objects make them great... (of course, nothing is perfect... on the late levels, you dont find anything new... and the "precious" effect and rarity feeling kind of disappear... I would add a lot of weapons also... (claymore ? bastard sword ? bows ? more different styles of the same gear, maybe...)

I absolutely fell in love with the music... Its a big part of the atmosphere...

If i can point out some stuff, that the developers probably know, and probably are working on it at this moment... but...

Why cant the NPC (derrin) pick up his own weapon on the floor before attacking a powerful (or weak) enemy bare handed after he got knocked out ?... He should do it automatically... no ? ...

also, when my player tried 25 times to stand up, can he realise there is a table, or a rack of metal, or a giant ceramic pot over him ?... can he... i dont know... crawl to the side, and, then, stand up ?...


I must admit, i hate procedural generation in games... Never a fine, complex and thriving level can come out of the procedural generation... And, they are not using it... All the levels are always the same, balanced, constructed and organised to create something particular... Its like the first dark soul... The level design is awesome. Please never use procedural generation for level design...

ok...

nice combat mechanics, nice music, nice graphics, nice intelligence in the story, and physical overlay... Nice curve of difficulty, nice atmosphere, nice feeling of getting loots, nice exploring... everything is nice.

I wish they could add more "humanoide" levels (like 1, 2 3... ) and less "demons" levels... or sewers...NO MORE SEWER PLEASE!
I wish they could add more NPC (friendly, hostile, neutral...) A little more dialogues... a little more gears, armors, and weapons...

BUT, in the genra, of exploring a "dungeon"... WOW, that a fantastic job !... what a nice treat it was...

I have to admit it... When i reached the end... when i realised that it was over... I was, litteraly sad... I could feel the emptyness...

the feeling, the actors, the gameplay, the mechanics... the story!! THE STORY!....

I had so much fun, to play this game, wow.
