It's essentially a more adult version of a "choose your own adventure" book in the form of a video game you control with just a click of your mouse. And by adult I just mean more mature concepts that young minds may not fully grasp regarding society, government & religion...nothing overly vulgar or obscene.

I've enjoyed going through the story multiple times with different choices to see the various outcomes.

I would highly recommend this game. It was a fun ~20 hour experience that left me wanting more! A bit of resource management, some detective work, decision-making that has an impact & an interesting story. I was really disappointed there were not any additional gameplay content DLC's released, because I really wanted more...but I'm thankful I only just found it now...because apparently the sequel has just been announced for 2025. So hopefully I won't have much longer to wait for more!

As is the game is worth the money, but my biggest critique/feedback is just not having more options for certain parts. I'd like to have more control over the entire story and less forced/linear options. Would help with replay-ability purposes to have alternative outcomes if different decisions are made at different times.

But overall...I recommend, especially if you see it on sale!

It's great fun for a group for friends! It's a bit confusing at first if you jump right into it, but if you take the time to play the 'story mode' it's essentially an in-depth tutorial that eases you into each step of the game. The only lobbies I've seen are password protected so I really recommend having some friends to play with if you don't want to just face the AI (which isn't as fun).

I've played for years...it's a great game and concept. They are always tweaking and adding new things so that's a positive. Unfortunately the game is a bit plagued by trolls and toxicity, but if you find the right group of friends or have thick enough skin to ignore the morons...this is a fantastic social deduction game.

The game is majority text-based with a learning curve in the roles and shorthand used in-game. However there are plenty of modes to find the balance that work for you. They give you the ability to grind and obtain extras without having to pay for them. Overall for $5 it's certainly worth it.

This is an amazing game. Do not let the negative reviews fool you...I know they almost got me (and I'm now on my way to 700 hours). If you love social deduction games like Town of Salem or Among Us...you'll thoroughly enjoy Dread Hunger. It's got the nuance and smarts required for Town of Salem with the moving around in an open space of Among Us.

Except unlike those games your tasks are more ambiguous. You have a role, but you also have the freedom to do whatever you want in a semi-open world. To win the game the crew should work together, but the Thralls have tricks to create chaos onboard.

The biggest negative reviews seem to be about the lack of English speaking lobbies. While this is true, there are more non-English speaking lobbies...it really doesn't take more than 5 minutes during peak times...and 20 minutes during off times to find a full lobby. The more you play the more you'll befriend regular gamers and the shorter those wait times will be.

As for trolls, I challenge you to find a game who doesn't have them. Where there are humans...there will be idiots. The one positive of DH having a smaller community of English players? We sus out the trolls pretty quick. We're like our own community watch. Seriously...we get to know each other and we mute the trolls so we can identify them later. Trolls don't last long here...unless they're Harambe. He's our adopted troll...kinda...he behaves sometimes. Don't approach alone as a newbie....and don't press C to crouch. You can't crouch in this game!
