Solid cozy game. I buy a lot of games and I don't complete the majority. I finished this one. The aesthetic and music is on point. It's clear it was made with care by a small team. The combat is fun and the levels are creative. The story won't surprise you but it fits the mood perfectly.

I played on the hardest difficulty and if you've played games like this before you should do so too to keep the progression interesting.

The run time is about 25 hours for a single playthrough where I visited most little chests and secrets. I maxed out friendship with probably 3/4ths of the cast. There is a New Game + with some extra goodies. And I will give them props for letting you choose if you want to reset all friendships in the second playthrough or keep your progression. I don't think this was available on release. Additions like that are the sign of a good developer.

Changes I'd recommend.
* Add a sound cue for the parry. (Yes just like in Windwaker). It's very hard to see the visual prompt in the chaos of spells. Parry with slo mo feels very fun and I'd like to be able to do it more.
* Add an "auto advance" to the dialogue. I want to read the dialog but I also don't want to press X all the time. Fast Forward is great but skips things entirely.
* Making climbing smoother by not requiring the camera to be pointed directly at the next hold. Or even do an auto jump to where ever the stick is pointing next.
* The camera sometimes goes nuts when you use a power like blade spin and lock on at the same time. It's pretty funny to have the camera jobble around 2 inches from the enemy but it'd be a little smoother for combat if the camera stayed back a bit.

Early Access Review
In about 50 years we'll have a mediocre open world crafting game.
