It's janky but fun. If you suspend disbelief, you really do feel like you're running tactical for a squad of space marines facing a Xenomorph threat. If you lean to hard into the mechanics (particularly around the save and rest systems) it can snap you back to reality pretty hard.

Also, there's some "insane DM" moments in the script, like taking down a Queen, feeling like a badass... only to have her hive retaliate and turn you into paste before you can extract...

Early Access Review
I love SNAP on my iPhone. On a Windows tablet (Surface Pro 9) it is all but unplayable. Touch doesn't work at all (it just fuzzy-highlights things without selecting them, and swipe operations like scrolling horizontally through your decks don't work period). Using the pen is somewhat better (taps actually turn into clicks, and drag mostly works), but still has some very rough edges (for example, how do I preview my cards abilities? tap and hold doesn't do it, even with a stylus, and sometimes the card gets 'stuck' to my stylus. Other times, cards that I can play (like 1-cost cards) on the right side of my hand couldn't even be picked up, even with a stylus! Really strange experience on PC, especially on a touchscreen-equipped / touch-first PC like a Surface Pro. I can't recommend SNAP on PC in its current state.

On the pro side, at least the Google sign-in worked to sync my account with my iOS version (where I also use Google to log in). Hooray for that! I won't be risking my reputation by trying to play this on PC right now though. Too buggy.

Wonderful game. Love the narration. The difficult curve could use some smoothing, and the fatigue mechanic that forces you to use each family member in a fairly balanced manner is frustrating (even if sensible), but otherwise I have few complaints. Most of the time when I get frustrated I realize it's because i'm biting off more than I can chew and I need to grind a little more or change my tactics (more of then the latter than the former). Even so, I can't put it down. Great game.

A fun puzzler with really cool ambiance. The puzzles aren't too hard, but they're not always trivial, so you can play it when you want to chill or when you want to think a little. The hints are usually just right to get you back on track.

The final boss is frustrating as hell. Some nice puzzles otherwise. =^)

The voice acting is superb and the art style is clean and creative, but the script is long-winded and exhausting. I found myself not wanting to skip the story for fear that I'd miss something critical, and yet ultimately I decided to just stop playing because I never actually got to play the game more than a few seconds in between 20 minutes of dialog.

Some of the characters are completely unhinged for no obvious reason. There's one cop that has a highly unprofessional attitude and a disproportionate response to every situation. All I want to do is fire that guy... but I don't have the patience for that. Uninstalling the game takes only a second though. A real shame, too, because I think there's a fun game underneath all of this.

If the developers can 'cut the fat' off of the script (keep it relevant...) and add some more believability to some of the characters, I'd play it again in a heartbeat.

TIS-100 Makes you think and teaches some valuable lessons about programming parallel-processing systems. Highly recommended for people who want to learn some programming fundamentals, and for those who want to build their chops by finding new, innovative ways of solving some of the challenges therein. I've used it to teach and I've used it as friendly competition with other programmer friends. It's a great game that should not be overlooked!

Seriously fun mashup of the Tower Defense and Collectible Card Game genres.
