Excellent game. Easily in my top games played all quarantine. I only wish there was more of it, honestly. There's opportunity for additional characters, storylines, and mechanics to be introduced, though having gotten over 100 hours out of it, I can't say that it's necessary.

This game does an excellent job of encouraging you to play in different ways and try out all the various mechanics as you progress. A boon that you try out early with a sword, for example, may seem useless - but trying out that same boon a few hours later with another weapon you might find that boon is the best thing that could've happened to you.

The writing is also very well done. They've done a great job at fleshing out figures from mythology without falling into too many of the cliches and pitfalls made so common over centuries of adaptations. The story itself is rewarding, but the characters are what really drive the game.

Also, there's inexplicably a fishing mechanic. I don't know why you wouldn't want to play the game in light of that alone.

10/10 - great game, and a lot of fun to complete!

Early Access Review
There was a lot to this game that appeals to me: a survival simulator that prioritizes movement and has a host of crafting and exploration mechanics. However, this game is clunky, poorly designed, and not user friendly. The UI is difficult to use, and the programming is prone to bugs and glitches.

More than that, this game is not yet fun. I tried to find a way to enjoy it, but the game offers neither reasonable challenge/difficulty nor a compelling story. The mechanics and controls are unrefined and do not complement one another, and the game is riddled with bugs. I thought it might be due to the game being in early access, but the game is more than five years in early access with monthly updates and has been released on consoles. The studio has had ample opportunity to address these issues, and it is clear they do not intend to make the game more user friendly.

I decided to return the game after 65 minutes when, upon arriving at a new island after struggling to paddle the raft in anything other than a circle for five minutes, I was attacked by a boar, killed it, attempted to skin it as its head spun in wide circles and its war cries continued to ring out as though it was still attacking me, and then was killed by a crab with no indication that I had been at all injured to that point. I had no motivation to continue.

Overall:
Graphics: 5/10 - very early 2000s
Gameplay: 3/10
Soundtrack: 5/10

If purchased as part of a bundle, this game is great. There's maybe 30 minutes of gameplay to it, and it's beautiful. The soundtrack is great, and the art is gorgeous.

However, I don't think that the game is worth more than $1.00 or so. There's nothing to really do except admire the setting and watch the story unfold. It's unclear what the goal is, there's a utility menu when you click your character that really doesn't do anything, and ultimately there is no replay value.

It's nice to look at, but I don't recommend it.
