This game is a great analogue for a paperback short story. While it's not amongst a collection of other tales, Dr. Langeskov is a short, interactive story game, much like The Stanley Parable. Standout features include the dialogue (voice acting and writing), and visual presentation (textures, lighting etc).

Cons: The tapes scattered around the game were boring and long. Not a big deal, they just fell flat.

This game is fantastic for what it is, and should be considered as a casual 20 minute adventure.

Pro's:
++ Hard af (If you are into games like this)
= Even with 99% chance to hit you more than likely will miss, i'm sure you've heard it all before
= Managing panic and money and invasions is pretty tough
+ Interesting log entries, but could be improved (i.e. like Xenonaughts)
++ Fantastic game mechanics, combat flows well
+ Interesting story
+ Customisation of loadouts, name, features of soldier etc

Cons:
--- The writing is terrible. I'm sorry, but Dr. Vahlen is always so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazed at "The most powerful beings we've seen", or how "Intricate the engineering" in every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cutscene. Prepare yourself for a cringe-fest from start to finish
- Cover mechanics can sometimes be a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (ridiculous angles, inaccurate representation of the actual cover provided)
- You cant do any actions with another soldier while a previous one is still moving, but thats a small complaint
- I dislike the clunky art style, but it's not a big deal: It doesnt ruin the experience for me

All I've listed here are the outstanding points, everything else is pretty damn decent and it's a good game.

This game is one of the most brilliant I have ever played.

Now, to ammend that statement, it's the best story game I have ever played.
The Stanley Parable covers so many different emotions and narrative types and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anything you could think of. It is meta, it breaks the 4th wall, it scares you, empowers you, makes you feel like the worst excuse for a human being in existence, and the best.

Kevan Brighting is the game's heart and soul. Wreden's fantastic brainchild script is ammunition for Kevan's .50 caliber machine gun of a voice, firing at whatever doubt you had of this game in the first place.

There are so many stories to this game, different paths you can take, and different endings, even though it still centers around Stanley (and of course the Narrator).

I only usually write reviews for games I love, and this is one of them.
