Overall, very chill game about exploring a dead world and bringing it back to life. Some minor bugs and occasional weird clipping, but there is a good story if you seek it out and the level of progress is always visible within the world. I played a great deal in the Early Access and when 1.0 came out, I bought my wife a copy and we played through 100% together and it was delightful. I hope they add more creature species for the Mammals stage.

Graphics: Clearly a lot of thought and design has gone into the world, the characters, and the temtems that you collect in this game. Everything is lovingly rendered and almost all of the temtems are absolutely adorable, or suitably powerful looking (as appropriate). I found out today that the graphics automatically scale to look even better in 4k with a better graphics card, so that was an added bonus. Really vivid and vivacious.

Sound: The music is just as well made as the graphics and worldbuilding with perfectly balanced combat music and overworld music that flows smoothly from one tune to the next, never being jarring and integrating with the world beautifully. The temtems all have unique calls and cries that you can trigger by talking to them as they follow you around on the overworld map, or they perform it when combat starts, very few of them that I've heard so far are particularly annoying.

Combat: Temtem uses a turn-based 2-on-(up to)2 combat system with a surprising level of depth for everything from conditions, type advantages, and initiative modifiers on specific attacks to make the game scale to a delightful level of difficulty fairly quickly. With the added bonus of 2-player co-op by way of each play controlling one of the temtems on the "player" side of the battlefield, it gets ever more complex. Make sure you use some sort of voice chat or are in the same room in order to coordinate your attacks or you will not get far in the game.

Overall: Highly enjoyable game, still in early access, so it has some hiccups, but significant promise and also it's genuinely fun to play right now. Highly recommended.

Harder than the hardest thing to ever hard. I love it and my wife is better at it than I am. 13/10, would buy again.

My first character was a robot with a whacking stick who befreinded the local space-cows and hunted evil space raccoons in search of wood. It's everything I had hoped for!
