Controls are a bit clunky even on a gamepad, but fast-paced mech action makes up for it by all means.

For starters, I'd say, overall, this game is not perfect, but it's a really great roguelite-metroidvania. It's fun and rewarding.
This game really captured me. I've sunk not that many hours into it, but I'll definitely keep visiting it from time to time.

The art style of the game is, despite it's simplicity, very charming and nice. It's going for that 3d in 2d look.

Music is generally OK. Some tracks are very memorable, notably the theme of The Stygian Study and Kerguelen Plateau. I liked that it's not too jarring to listen to many times. You won't get tired of listening to it, whether it's your first or hundredth run.

The most exciting part is gameplay, of course. It's swift and rewarding, controls are very precise and responsive. The bosses are interesting and reasonably challenging. I've enjoyed trying different playstyles, using various classes and their alternative weapons, to find out, which one is the best fit to deal with certain boss. Content-wise, there's a ton of content to discover and try. The NG+ system with burdens keeps game challenging and fresh. The burdens and accessibility options really help to tailor the difficulty to your liking.

When it comes to cons, there aren't many. Namely, I'd say, the biggest one is repetitiveness and grind. Although, to be fair, it's seldom appearing, and it's greatly reduced and improved on, compared to the first Rogue Legacy.

Pleasant surprise, a blast to play.

Music is quirky and catchy. You won't get bored of it after many retries. Sfx is nice as well, many noises are pleasant to hear and they add to the atmosphere. While some have problems with volume levels.

The game has undertale-like style accompanied with very bright flashing lights and effects. Which may cause problems as they make it uncomfortable for long game sessions. Thankfully there is accessibility option to tone them down.

The story is interesting, though it's not long, you spend most of the time in battles

Overall it's a beautiful musical adventure with dynamic rhythmic gameplay.
